Job Description

I. Job Summary

Under general supervision, this position is responsible for developing/validating emission models and advanced analytics; analyzing and interpreting data; designing, developing, coding, testing, and debugging new software and producing significant enhancements to existing software to support landfill operations and regulatory applications. Conducts intermediate level business process analysis, needs assessments, and participates in design sessions with Architects in order to align information technology solutions with business initiatives. Undertakes moderately complex projects requiring additional specialized knowledge in software design and testing.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform enterprise-level statistical analysis to investigate trends, patterns, and relationships using statistical methods/tests to reach actionable conclusions.
  • Develop, train machine learning models to apply algorithms that support predictive analytics, classification tasks (e.g., land cover change), and operational forecasting
  • Develops enterprise-level information technology solutions by analyzing, coding, testing, and implementing new software and by modifying/enhancing existing software applications.
  • Coordinates with business analysts and/or users to determine requirements. Performs moderately complex analyses of system requirements and of existing business processes and information systems.
  • Collaborates with architects to determine the design of quality technical solutions.
  • Reviews systems under development and related documentation.
  • Resolves customers' issues and responds to suggestions for improvements and enhancements. Participates in the development of software.
  • Performs code reviews and assists in more complex systems planning, scheduling and implementation.


III. Qualifications

A. Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Bachelor (accredited) in Computer Science, MIS, or similar area of study, or in lieu of degree,'s Degree
  • High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and 4 years of relevant experience.
  • 3 years of previous experience (in addition to education requirement)


B. Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with landfill air quality, methane emissions, and operational datasets.
  • Machine learning/modeling, data wrangling, statistical analysis, scientific research GIS
  • Systems development, implementation, upgrades and analyses
  • QA testing, catalyst or unified business modeling, system design and analysis
  • Knowledge of enterprise coding standards (e.g., Python). Hands on experience in writing more complex code.
  • Ability to perform code reviews.
  • Knowledge of software methodologies.
  • Ability to learn new and emerging technologies.
  • Ability to lead a group to consensus, solve problems, and accomplish tasks.
  • Ability to mentor and train less knowledgeable peers and individuals.
  • Ability to adapt to change.

Office: This job primarily operates in a professional office environment and routinely requires the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copy machines, etc.

Pay: The expected base pay range for this position across the U.S. is $90,000.00 - $100,000.00 . This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific salary offered to a successful candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location.
