Opportunity Overview

The Innovation Lab Software Engineer is part of the Innovation Lab, an advanced R&D team within Teradyne's Semiconductor Test Division. This role develops complex test solutions for the emerging microLED market across fabrication stages, from wafer probe through packaged test. The position applies deep C# expertise in hardware product systems development and works across instrumentation, automated test equipment, vision, motion-control, and optical subsystems. Based in North Reading, Massachusetts, the role contributes to differentiated technologies and architectures for Teradyne's core and adjacent businesses.
  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of high-quality software instrumentation solutions using C#.
  • Develop scalable, high-performance, extensible, and maintainable production-grade software in C#, C++, and Python.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional optical, hardware, product, and business development teams to analyze requirements and deliver robust, high-precision solutions.
  • Build and integrate vision systems with automated test equipment, motion-control systems, cameras, and optical subsystems.
  • Support system validation, deployment, automated testing, and continuous improvement in manufacturing environments.
  • Partner with the team to explore new technologies and architectures that address current and emerging customer requirements and adjacent business opportunities.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline; a master's degree is preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience programming instrumentation and supporting hardware product systems development.
  • Proven expertise in C# development and creating efficient, scalable software solutions.
  • Experience programming sensors, particularly motion-control systems and cameras.
  • Experience writing unit tests, creating test harnesses, and automating software testing.
  • Experience with Windows, Visual Studio, Jira, and version-control systems; Git experience is advantageous.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, debugging, problem-solving, technical communication, and documentation skills.
  • Proven success delivering high-performance systems in production and working effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Semiconductor test, inspection, or automated test equipment experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with optical system design and calibration is preferred.
  • Background or experience in embedded programming is preferred.
  • Python knowledge is a plus.


Compensation:

The base salary range for this role is $129,600 - $207,400. This range is a good faith estimate, and the amount of base salary will correspond with experience and skill set. This range can also fluctuate depending on demand and location.

Incentive Plan: This job is eligible for discretionary bonus(es) based on financial performance.
