  • 2 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies or storage.
  • Experience programming in C .
  • Experience with distributed systems.
  • Experience with algorithms.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
  • Experience writing high-quality code in C , or another general-purpose language.
  • Experience with large-scale distributed systems, particularly in the storage domain.
  • Experience operating or developing a large scale service.
  • Familiarity with cloud storage systems.


About the job

The Google Cloud Storage (GCS) team provides planet-scale object storage solutions for both Google's cloud customers with GCS and internal products with Blobstore. Blobstore is the core storage platform for multiple Google products and is one of the largest distributed systems in the world. Our team is responsible for building and managing the core metadata infrastructure for Blobstore - a planet-scale distributed storage system that handles over 100 trillion objects and several million QPS.

In this role, you will play a key role in developing and maintaining the metadata infrastructure that powers Google's massive storage system, Blobstore, which is a critical storage system for products like YouTube, Photos, Workspace, Android, AI/ML platforms and more.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $147000 - $210000 (USD) 15% bonus target equity benefits

Responsibilities
  • Write product or system development code.
  • Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
