Job Description:

Develop, enhance, maintain, and support mission-critical mainframe applications that enable TD's credit card and payment processing platforms. Partner with business and technology teams to deliver reliable, scalable, and secure solutions using COBOL, DB2, JCL, , and related mainframe technologies. Contribute to application development, production support, system integration, modernization initiatives, and continuous improvement of engineering practices.

• Deliver high-quality software solutions that support business objectives, customer experience, and regulatory requirements.
• Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical designs and application enhancements.
• Support critical card processing applications and provide timely resolution to production issues.
• Collaborate with business analysts, product owners, architects, and downstream teams to ensure solutions meet business needs.
• Participate in application modernization and automation initiatives to improve service reliability and operational efficiency.

• Design, develop, test, implement, and support mainframe applications using COBOL, DB2, JCL, VSAM,  MQ, and related technologies.
• Participate in solution design reviews, estimation, impact assessments, and technical feasibility analysis.
• Ensure compliance with TD engineering standards, security controls, audit requirements, and operational processes.
• Conduct code reviews and support quality gates throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Contribute to incident management, root cause analysis, problem remediation, and production stability initiatives.
• Support system integration activities across enterprise platforms, payment systems, vendor solutions, APIs, and digital channels.
• Identify opportunities for automation, performance optimization, and technical debt reduction.

• Collaborate effectively within Agile delivery teams and participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives.
• Mentor junior developers and contribute to team knowledge sharing.
• Build strong partnerships with business stakeholders, architects, infrastructure teams, QE teams, and external vendors.
• Support a culture of continuous learning, innovation, accountability, and engineering excellence.
• Provide technical leadership during development, testing, implementation, and production support activities.
• Participate in on-call support rotations and critical incident resolution as required.

• Develop and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, DB2, JCL, , VSAM, MQ, and SQL.
• Perform design, coding, unit testing, system testing support, and implementation activities.
• Create technical specifications and maintain application documentation.
• Analyze existing systems and implement enhancements to support changing business requirements.
• Troubleshoot complex application issues and implement sustainable solutions.

• Investigate production incidents and perform root cause analysis.
• Support batch processing, online transaction processing, and application monitoring.
• Collaborate with infrastructure and operations teams to resolve application or performance issues.
• Participate in disaster recovery, resiliency, and business continuity activities.

• Follow SDLC, Agile, DevOps, and TD engineering standards.
• Participate in peer reviews and promote coding best practices.
• Ensure applications meet security, performance, scalability, and availability requirements.
• Support CI/CD and source code management practices including GitHub and automated deployment processes where applicable.

• Strong understanding of enterprise mainframe application architecture and integration patterns.
• Advanced knowledge of software engineering principles, design methodologies, and SDLC practices.
• Ability to independently perform complex development, troubleshooting, and implementation activities.
• Experience working on large-scale mission-critical financial systems.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced delivery environment.

• Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.

• 8+ years of software development experience
• 5+ years of Mainframe development experience
• Experience supporting large-scale banking, payment, or financial applications.
• Proven experience in application design, development, testing, implementation, and production support.
• Experience working in Agile delivery environments.
