Full Job Description
As a Software Engineer at Kapitus, you will be working with other developers to design well-crafted software. We are looking for engineers with a focus on code quality, developed in an agile environment utilizing modern architecture and design practices. Your contributions will empower Kapitus to continue helping small business owners find lending options so they can make payroll during tough times, scale to meet market demands, and make large purchases to scale their operations. You will join a team of engineers tasked with developing the modern interfaces to replace existing legacy systems.
What you will do:
• Design, develop, test, and maintain new software for internal customers from the ground up while providing a strong foundation for future development
• Help define the architecture, technical patterns, and engineering practices for a new platform while integrating with or extracting capabilities from legacy applications
• Develop backend services primarily in Python, with particular emphasis on Flask
• Build and integrate solutions using AWS services, including Lambda, Cognito, SNS, SQS, and DynamoDB
• Maintain and improve deployment pipelines and CI/CD processes
• Build and maintain infrastructure using tools such as OpenTofu and Terraform
• Collaborate with Stakeholders to understand the product roadmap, communicate progress, identify risks, and support delivery within an Agile/Scrum environment
• Partner with the Tech Lead and Engineering Manager to make sound technical decisions and establish scalable development practices
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to team-wide engineering standards as the team grows
• Mentor junior developers on Python and engineering practices
What we're looking for:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 5+ years of engineering experience
• Deep understanding of Python (5 years+) experience in Flask is preferred.
• Experience working in AWS particularly Lambda, Cognito, SNS, SQS, and DynamoDB
• 2+ years of Salesforce experience
• 3 + years of experience building or maintaining deployment pipelines and CI/CD processes
• Experience building clean, readable, and well documented code using modern best practices.
• Experience working with infrastructure-as-code tools such as OpenTofu and Terraform
• Experience working in an Agile environment utilizing Scrum
• Experience collaborating with Product Owners and technical leadership to deliver work from a prioritized roadmap or backlog
• Strong understanding of software development, testing, code quality, maintainability, and technical documentation
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Ability to remain organized and effective when working under pressure and managing time-sensitive deliverables
• A growth mindset and interest in progressing from a senior engineering role toward technical leadership
• A strong sense of mentorship and a willingness to support the development of other team members
• Experience in the financial services or lending industry is a strong plus
• Certification in AWS is preferred
Kapitus Total Rewards Package Includes:
• Competitive Base Salary Range of $96,300-$154,400 Kapitus is providing this as a good faith salary range to comply with applicable law. The applicant's final salary will depend on a number of factors including the applicant's geographic location, skills, and experience.
