This job is responsible for developing and delivering complex requirements to accomplish business goals. Key responsibilities of the job include ensuring that software is developed to meet functional, non-functional and compliance requirements, coding solutions, unit testing, and ensuring the solution can be integrated successfully into the overall application/system with clear, robust, and well-tested interfaces. Job expectations include an awareness of development and testing practices in the industry.

Developer Experience (DevEx) provides enterprise technical standards and common technical services, platforms, and tools that are leveraged by delivery teams across all BofA lines of business. We lead the solution design of those common services, platforms, and tools within our portfolio. With a strong sense of ownership for both personal deliverables and value stream goals, we perform role functions including:
  • Improve the experience for our developers, making it easier to deliver industry-leading solutions, while managing work efficiently and with the right controls.
  • Advance our technology platforms through innovation.
  • Reduce risk and improve quality across our technology portfolio by aligning to a single enterprise architecture strategy and delivering governance that enables consistency, integration and automation.


Enterprise Developer Tooling, within DevEx, is in need of Desktop Platform Engineer/Windows Systems Admin to be assigned with design and implementation of removal of End of Life products with the workstation platform within the firm. This engineer must have extensive knowledge and applied on the job experience with Microsoft Windows operating systems, as well as packaging technologies, virtualization, and telemetry tools.

This position will require understanding of bank systems/processes/applications, with an understanding of networking tools and terminology. Experience with windows imaging technologies, specifically Microsoft Configuration Manager, is required.

Responsibilities:

  • Codes solutions and unit test to deliver a requirement/story per the defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements
  • Utilizes multiple architectural components (across data, application, business) in design and development of client requirements
  • Performs Continuous Integration and Continuous Development (CI-CD) activities
  • Contributes to story refinement and definition of requirements
  • Participates in estimating work necessary to realize a story/requirement through the delivery lifecycle
  • Contributes to existing test suites (integration, regression, performance), analyze test reports, identify any test issues/errors, and triage the underlying cause
  • Performs spike/proof of concept as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas
  • Facilitate solution-driven discussions and design complex systems using domain expertise, experimentation, and POCs. Partner with Product to prioritize architecture runway work that enables business features and new opportunities. Guide development teams with clear architecture, system design support, and solution options to resolve impediments.
  • Conduct design/code reviews to ensure non-functional requirements (security, performance, scalability, reliability, maintainability, usability) are met. Support technology selection and preferred product standards. Educate teams on best practices, standards, and modern engineering approaches to deliver innovative, scalable solutions.
  • Drive architecture across Business, Application, Data, and Technology domains aligned to the product roadmap. Establish best practices and standardized templates. Define solution intent and architectural vision for complex initiatives, iterating with an evolving backlog. Lead rapid, high-level architecture shaping; ensure designs are modular, flexible, and adaptable to changing requirements.


Required Qualifications:
  • Extensive knowledge and applied experience with: Windows OS environment (Windows 10 and 11)
  • Microsoft Virtualization Technologies (AppV, User Experience Virtualization), Microsoft Configuration Manager Vmware Hosted Virtual Desktop environments Scripting languages; Perl, Powershell, Telemetry tools; Splunk, Aternity.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues and understand requirements as designated by LOB partners.

Pay range

$88,800.00 - $144,800.00 annualized salary, offers to be determined based on experience, education and skill set.

This role is eligible to participate in the annual discretionary plan.
