Full Job Description

ProSync is seeking a Software Engineer to enhance and modernize a Spring Boot application that processes large volumes of operational data. This role offers the opportunity to evolve a mission-critical platform through containerization, Kubernetes deployment, and modern software engineering practices. The engineer will join a highly collaborative team responsible for developing and maintaining a Spring Boot application with a MariaDB backend that processes terabytes of enterprise data each week. The ideal candidate is passionate about building scalable Java applications, designing RESTful APIs, optimizing relational database interactions, and contributing to the modernization of a high-impact system. The successful candidate will influence technical design decisions, support application evolution, and help prepare the platform for containerized deployment in Kubernetes environments.

Responsibilities:
  • Requirements & Technical Design - Analyze user and system requirements and contribute to technical design, implementation strategies, and modernization planning.
  • Java & Angular Development - Develop, test, debug, and maintain Spring Boot and Angular applications using modern engineering practices.
  • RESTful API Engineering - Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs and service integrations supporting high-volume data processing.
  • Relational Database Development - Build and optimize MariaDB queries, schema interactions, and data access components; support Oracle and PostgreSQL as needed.
  • High-Volume Data Processing - Develop software capable of efficiently processing and managing terabytes of enterprise data weekly.
  • Application Modernization - Support modernization initiatives including containerization, Kubernetes deployment, and architectural evolution.
  • Architecture & Code Reviews - Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, troubleshooting sessions, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Automated Testing & CI/CD - Develop unit, integration, and automated tests; support GitLab CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment.
  • Documentation & Agile Workflow - Create and maintain technical documentation in Confluence and manage work through Jira.
  • Database Administration Support - Provide backup DBA support for Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MariaDB, including maintenance, monitoring, troubleshooting, backup/recovery, and operational continuity.
  • Cross-Training & Team Resilience - Cross-train across application, database, and deployment technologies to ensure resilient team operations.


Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university plus seven (7) years of experience in software engineering (OR) An Associate's Degree, a High School Diploma or GED plus eleven (11) years of general software engineering experience.
    • (Note: Software Engineer Level II's require a relevant Bachelor's degree or higher plus fourteen (14) years of software engineering experience (OR) an Associate's Degree, a High School Diploma or GED plus eleven (11) years of general software engineering experience.)
  • Experience developing Java enterprise applications using Spring Boot or similar modern frameworks.
  • Experience developing web applications using Angular or similar modern front-end frameworks.
  • Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs.
  • Experience developing applications using Oracle, PostgreSQL, MariaDB, or similar relational database technologies.
  • Experience working with container technologies such as Docker or Podman.
  • Experience deploying and supporting containerized applications in Kubernetes environments.
  • Experience with application modernization and software architecture evolution.
  • Experience creating and maintaining technical documentation.
  • An active Top Secret/SCI with Polygraph is required.


Desired Requirements
  • Experience designing and implementing microservices architectures.
  • Experience deploying applications to Kubernetes platforms such as Rancher, Amazon EKS, OpenShift, or other CNCF-compliant Kubernetes distributions.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes concepts including Deployments, Services, ConfigMaps, Secrets, Ingress, Persistent Volumes, and Helm charts.
  • Experience designing or supporting applications that process large volumes of enterprise data.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience utilizing Jira and Confluence in a software development environment.
  • Experience providing operational support for Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MariaDB databases.
  • Experience with automated testing, DevSecOps practices, and modern software delivery pipelines.
