AT A GLANCE

The Software Engineer is an individual contributor role on one of our Healthgrades development teams, helping build and modernize the platforms behind Healthgrades' provider search and content experiences. You'll write code, ship features, and help move our widget platform forward, all while working closely with a collaborative, cross-functional squad.

What You'll Do
  • Design, build, and ship features across our widget platform and content systems, working from requirements through to production.
  • Partner with your Product Manager, Technical Project Manager, and fellow engineers to scope work, estimate effort, and plan sprints.
  • Write clean, well-tested code and participate actively in code review, both giving and receiving feedback.
  • Help modernize legacy code as the team migrates toward a current React/TypeScript stack.
  • Debug and resolve issues across the stack, supporting production systems as part of the team's on-call rotation.
  • Collaborate with QA engineers on testing strategy and help build toward stronger automated test coverage.
  • Use AI tools to speed up your day-to-day development work.
  • Contribute to a healthy team culture: clear communication, constructive code review, and shared ownership of quality.
What We're Looking For

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, a related field; or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years experience in software development, with a focus on large-scale applications and web development.
  • Full stack experience with comfortability working across both front-end and back-end applications
  • 1+ years of hands-on experience with React
  • Strong JavaScript fundamentals
  • Experience using AI tools for code generation, with clear judgment on when AI assistance is and isn't appropriate for a given task.
  • Experience working with REST and/or GraphQL APIs.
  • Deep understanding of software development methodologies and best practices.
  • Experience with software testing and writing automated tests (unit and/or integration).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Even stronger interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams, including product managers, technical program managers, and fellow engineers.
  • Experience supporting high-traffic production systems, including participating in an on-call rotation to ensure platform reliability and performance.

Preferred:
  • Exposure to one of the following: Java, C#, C++, or PHP.
  • Familiarity with Node.js, CI/CD pipelines, and Git-based code review workflows.
  • Familiarity with reviewing telemetry data (e.g., Datadog, Splunk, Grafana).
  • Comfort with AWS or general cloud infrastructure.
  • Previous experience with healthcare regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Understanding of SEO principles and experience optimizing web applications for search engine performance and visibility.

Pursuant to various state Fair Pay Acts, below is a summary of compensation elements for this role at the company. The following benefits are provided by RVO Health, subject to eligibility requirements.
  • Starting Salary: $97,000 - $130,000
    *Note actual salary is based on geographic location, qualifications and experience
