Full Job Description
JOB DESCRIPTION

Supercast powers premium subscriptions for the world's top podcasts and creators. We help creators like Huberman Lab, This American Life, Peter Attia, and My Favorite Murder build direct relationships with their audiences and generate recurring revenue through exclusive content and community.

Following our recent acquisition by Red Seat Ventures (a Fox Corp. company), Supercast is entering a new phase of product investment and expansion. Building on our success with podcast subscriptions, we're evaluating a broader toolkit for podcast-first creators, as well as new ways for creators to engage and monetize their audiences.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We're looking to expand our team with a Software Engineer, reporting to the VP of Engineering, to help shape this next chapter. You'll work closely with Product and Design teams to build the experiences used by thousands of creators and hundreds of thousands of paying subscribers. Your work will define how creators launch, grow, and run subscription businesses on Supercast and how fans discover and engage with the content they love.

We believe the next generation of media companies will be creator-led, and our mission is to build the operating system for creator-led media businesses.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Help work on customer issues and implement features across the Supercast application. You'll be working on both the back-end and front-end of a Ruby on Rails application.
  • Collaborate with other departments and customers to help identify issues they're running into and work with the development team to fix issues and build tweaks and features.
  • Working with your team, work on your projects through to completion by meeting adoption and success criteria, and keeping with your project until you hit them.

Tech Stack
  • Ruby on Rails
  • Hotwire (Stimulus, Turbo)
  • Rspec for testing
  • Hotwire Native for iOS and Android applications.
  • AWS EC2 via Cloud66
  • AWS RDS Postgres
  • AWS ElastiCache Redis
  • Bunny.net
  • Notion for collaboration and planning

WHAT YOU WILL NEED
  • You like working with customers as well as with other departments, and have some experience doing that (as a software developer or in another role)
  • 2+ years of experience working as a software developer ideally in a startup or small team environment.
  • You have familiarity with Ruby on Rails - either through a bootcamp, university education, or by learning on your own. Having an example project that shows what you can do would be great!
  • You're familiar with modelling data in a relational database, and know how to represent simple data structures.
  • If you've worked with Hotwire or View Components that's a huge plus!
  • You use AI thoughtfully in your development workflow - we're not looking for AI slop, but you can use AI as a tool to maximize your productivity.

WHY YOU'LL LOVE WORKING AT SUPERCAST
  • You'll be directly shaping how podcast creators build sustainable businesses with their audiences, working directly with some of the most influential voices in podcasting.
  • Following our acquisition by Red Seat Ventures (a Fox Corp. company), we're investing heavily in product and expanding the platform to support the next generation of creator tools.
  • You'll join a tight-knit, ambitious team building what we believe will become the operating system for podcast-first creator businesses.
  • Good ideas get shipped quickly. You'll have real ownership over what gets built.
  • We're a remote-first company with most team members across North America (your primary work window should be Pacific - Eastern Time). To be updated
