Global Own product suites provide end to end digital owner experience to Ford/Lincoln customers globally through web and mobile engagement. With authenticated and unauthenticated journeys, Global Own platform enables the customers in 60+ markets to learn about their vehicles, access critical and connected vehicle information, and take appropriate actions to keep their vehicles running at their best. Global Own platform, running on Google Cloud and CaaS Platform, is built upon headless micro-frontend architecture using Next.js and Adobe Experience Manager
As a
Frontend Software engineer, you will have good knowledge and understanding of modern software engineering practices, common web application architecture and frameworks, and be adept in recent design standards and trends. You will work closely with Product Owners/Managers, regional stakeholders, Engineering Managers, Soution Architects and fellow engineers to deliver scalable and secured enterprise-level customer-facing solutions. You should have experience working with microservices-based backend systems and be familiar with Next.js, React JS, and/or AEM stack. Prior experience working on the Google Cloud Platform is highly desirable.
What you'll do...- Design and deliver responsive front-end UI architecture for micro frontends, ensuring high performance, WCAG-compliant, scalability, and maintainability.
- Develop modules within the eCommerce products, ensuring the development of high-quality front-end components and interfaces.
- Model the use of modern software engineering practices (BDD, CI/CD, Shift left, 12-factor applications, etc.), API design, and architecture to support integration with existing Ford software products as well as external cloud-based services.
- Effectively utilize the AI coding assistants (Ford LLM, Github Copilot, etc.) in day-to-day workflow, including prompt design and guard-railing.
- Implement UI features based on Figma design specs
- Analyze and improve product performance using Lighthouse, Dynatrace and other monitoring tools
- Collaborate with Frontend and Backend Architects to rationalize design, translate into requirements for implementation.
- Work closely with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to ensure that the UI meets the needs of our users and is aligned with the overall product vision.
- Collaborate with other technical domain experts such as cloud, security, SRE, and DevOps.
- Test and debug UI issues across different browsers and devices and troubleshoot production issues in a timely manner
- Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in UI development.
You'll have...- Minimum of 4+ years of hands-on experience in React/Next.js or similar stack, demonstrating strong proficiency.
- Should have hands on experience with micro frontends, server-side rendering (SSR), client-side rendering (CSR), and static site generation (SSG).
- Strong commitment to quality deliverables with proficiency in unit, integration, acceptance, and contract testing using tools such as Jest and Playwright
- Strong JS skills, including DOM manipulation and object model know-how.
- Knowledge on popular React workflows, such as Flux or Zustand or Redux, for efficient state management.
- Knowledge in performance optimization, Core Web Vitals & SEO principles.
- Good understanding of Web Security principles and best practices (e.g., OWASP Top 10, XSS, CSRF, CSP, secure coding practices).
- Good understanding of security aspects of frontend components, ensuring the design of a secure system (oAuth 2.0, JWT)
- Good understanding on WCAG requirements
- Proven experience in using Design System library ensuring visual consistency and reusability.
- Hands-on experience in modern web development tools like ES6/Babel, React, Node.js, NPM, Yarn, and Webpack.
- Strong understanding of HTML5, CSS3, Tailwind, JavaScript, and TypeScript, along with knowledge of pre-processors and methodologies such as SMACSS and BEM.
- Knowledge in working within a monorepo environment (Turborepo, Nx) ensuring efficient code sharing and management (JFrog, Nexus) across multiple micro frontend projects
- Awareness and understanding of headless architecture and experience working with headless or classic CMS platforms.
- Prior experience in eCommerce or similar customer-facing platform development is highly desirable.
- Strong aesthetic sense, including layout, grid systems, color theory, and typography.

This position is a salary grade 5 - salary grade 8 and ranges from $68,300-$192,900.
Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
