Job DetailsWe are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Software Engineer (Embedded Systems) to join our multidisciplinary engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career electrical/software engineer who is eager to learn, contribute, and grow within a fast-paced and dynamic environment. You will help shape the development of next-generation high-power fiber lasers and amplifiers that incorporate emerging optical technologies and their supporting electronic systems, and you'll provide hands-on support for deployed systems in the field.
Responsibilities- Contribute to the software and firmware development of electronic systems containing embedded microcontrollers and FPGAs
- Support prototyping and bring-up of printed circuit boards, cable harnesses, and embedded hardware assemblies containing programmable devices
- Participate in testing and validation of new and existing electronics and software
- Create documentation including test plans/test reports, design notes, manufacturing instructions, interface control documents, and operating instructions
- Collaborate cross functionally to resolve issues during development, integration, transition to manufacturing, and field operation
- Infrequent travel for hands-on field support, conferences, etc.
- Other duties as required
Minimum Qualifications- B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline
- 0-2 years of relevant work experience
- Experience with embedded programming in C
- Experience with Verilog or VHDL
- Hands-on experience with prototyping, debugging, and testing embedded electronics
Preferred Qualifications- M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline
- Extensive experience with embedded programming in C; experience with Microchip products preferred
- Experience with PCB design, schematic capture, and layout; preferably using Altium Designer
- Familiarity with real time operating systems
- Experience with Xilinx and Intel FPGAs
