Job Summary:
The Software Engineer will support a federal program focused on software development and integration for automated test systems. The role will develop and migrate Test Program Sets (TPS) using a modern .NET 9.0 test framework and API, implement test methods in C#, and integrate software with test instruments and hardware systems. The position requires hands-on laboratory work, software and hardware integration, troubleshooting, and requirements verification to support the modernization and sustainment of aerospace and defense test systems.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop Test Program Sets (TPS) using a .NET 9.0 test framework and API.
• Migrate legacy test programs to modern framework architectures while ensuring functionality and compatibility.
• Develop and modify automated test software using LabVIEW and C# or similar object-oriented programming languages.
• Implement C# test methods to perform measurements such as voltage, current, resistance, and digital patterns.
• Create and maintain JSON configuration files.
• Interpret Test Requirements Documents (TRDs) and Technical Orders (TOs) to implement test procedures.
• Use framework APIs to control test instruments, including Digital Multimeters, DAQ systems, and matrix switches.
• Implement test evaluation logic using numeric limit testing and pattern matching.
• Perform software debugging and troubleshooting in laboratory environments with test equipment and Units Under Test (UUT).
• Conduct integration testing between legacy hardware systems and modern software platforms.
• Implement minor hardware modifications as needed to support software integration.
• Verify test program functionality against equipment specifications and requirements.
• Collaborate with systems engineers and customers on integration activities and software development progress.
• Document software designs, integration procedures, test results, and troubleshooting activities.
• Support requirements verification and validation through software testing.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience in testing, automation, or related roles.
• Proficient experience with LabVIEW programming and development within the National Instruments ecosystem.
• Professional experience with C# or similar object-oriented programming languages such as C++ or Java.
• Experience with software integration, debugging, and troubleshooting in hardware-in-the-loop or automated test system environments.
• Software or hardware integration experience.
• Ability to read and debug electrical schematics and understand basic circuit functionality.
• Ability to work hands-on in laboratory environments with test equipment and hardware systems.
• Strong software-level debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 20%.
• Willingness and ability to obtain a DoD security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with National Instruments products such as TestStand, CVI, PXI systems, or related test platforms.
• Experience with Python, ANSI-C, or other scripting languages.
• Familiarity with electrical test equipment including digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and signal generators.
• Experience developing Test Program Sets (TPS) or Automated Test Equipment (ATE) for aerospace or defense applications.
• Knowledge of MIL-PRF-28800, MIL-STD-810, or MIL-STD-461 standards.
• Experience migrating legacy test systems to modern platforms.
• Knowledge of U.S. Air Force and/or Navy aviation maintenance organizational structures.
• Experience with version control systems such as Git or SVN and software development lifecycle practices.
• Basic electrical engineering knowledge, including circuit design and signal analysis.
• Experience with product lifecycle management in accordance with IEEE 15288.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100, or CMMI quality process standards.
• Experience with JSON and .NET technologies.
