What You9ll Do- Design, build, and deliver high-quality software solutions that power healthcare and wellness experiences.
- Build and maintain mission-critical APIs that power Humana9s Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) ecosystem, ensuring our members, partners, and internal systems can access accurate, real-time data at scale.
- Develop and optimize high-performance backend services, with a focus on reliability, security, and maintainability.
- Work hands-on across the full development lifecycle, coding, testing, debugging, optimizing, and deploying production-ready systems.
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity, accelerate coding tasks, enhance documentation quality, support testing activities, and improve overall engineering effectiveness.
- Utilize enterprise-approved AI solutions such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, and similar tools to assist with code generation, code review, troubleshooting, refactoring, and knowledge discovery while maintaining engineering quality and accountability for delivered solutions.
- Raise the bar on engineering quality, helping develop robust testing strategies, tooling, automation, AI-assisted development practices, and engineering standards.
- Investigate and resolve complex technical issues, identifying root causes and implementing long-term fixes.
- Collaborate within a cross-functional agile team, partnering with product, architecture, and QA to create solutions aligned with business and consumer needs.
- Apply your engineering expertise to make independent decisions and solve ambiguous problems with minimal guidance.
- Seek opportunities to modernize legacy components, improve system resilience and performance, enhance backend observability and developer experience, and identify ways AI and automation can accelerate modernization efforts and reduce technical debt.

Use your skills to make an impact Required Qualifications- Bachelor9s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience in software development, systems analysis, or application programming
- Strong coding skills and familiarity with modern development practices (CI/CD, cloud platforms, automated testing, agile methodologies)
- Experience using modern developer productivity tools, including AI-assisted coding, documentation, and testing solutions
- Ability to effectively leverage AI-generated recommendations while exercising sound engineering judgment, code ownership, and quality standards
- A passion for building elegant, reliable, user-centric software
- A growth mindset and a desire to contribute to a mission-driven organization focused on improving healthcare
Preferred Qualifications- Master9s degree in Computer Science or a related field
- Experience with enterprise-scale cloud technologies, distributed systems, or microservices
- Exposure to healthcare, wellness, or regulated industries (not required)
- Familiarity with AI-assisted software engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, ChatGPT Enterprise, or similar enterprise-grade development platforms
- Experience leveraging AI tools to improve software development, automated testing, technical documentation, debugging, or application modernization efforts
- Experience using AI-assisted workflows to accelerate learning, onboarding, troubleshooting, and delivery of software solutions

Pay RangeThe compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.
$80,900 - $110,300 per year
