Salary Range: L07: $91,000 – $125,000; L08: $110,000 - $151,000/ per year

 

Overview

Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) has an exciting opportunity for a Software Engineer, supporting the Test Operations and Sustainment contract at Arnold Engineering Development Complex at Arnold Air Force Base, TN. The Software Engineer will be working as a member of an integrated team responsible for operating and maintaining ground test facilities in support of the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will provide software development support to the mission at AEDC through the Engineering Solutions branch as well as special projects that may be assigned as mission requirements require. The goal is for this developer to work hand in hand with engineers, physicists, and other software developers to accomplish mission needs.  

 

Job Duties:

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy engineering software tools as part of a small team of developers and engineers.
  • Develop new capabilities such as standalone codes or libraries that can be integrated into existing codes.
  • Maintain legacy codebases, adding new capabilities or troubleshooting and resolving undesirable behavior.
  • Work with engineers to automate complex workflows or repetitive tasks.
  • Port locally developed and third-party software to a variety of HPC platforms, interfacing with various hardware, compiler, MPI, and queueing system environments.
  • Contribute to technical documentation and engineering reports.
  • It is a condition of employment to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
  • Perform other duties as required.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or Mathematics from an accredited college or university plus two years related experience.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Secret level security clearance and access to the AEDC local area network
  • Due to Air Force Security requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required for employment at AEDC

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7 years of experience
  • Full-Stack & Systems Optimization
  • Prior intern or co-op experience (AEDC specific experience strongly preferred)
  • Experience with Python, Java and related scientific and visualization libraries (NumPy, SciPy, Matplotlib).
  • Experience with Linux CLI and High-Performance Computing environments.
  • Practical experience with C, C++, and/or Fortran considered a plus.
  • Experience with working with diverse teams, including system administrators, lead schedulers, cybersecurity professionals, system architects, and engineers to provide analytics for continuous monitoring.
  • Working knowledge of object-oriented software design, automated software testing, and distributed version control systems.
  • Experience with digital infrastructure and business systems utilizing DevSecOps best practices to ensure the seamless deployment and maintenance of critical software for C2.
  • Prior experience in defense test facilities.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment with flexibility to accomplish mission objectives
  • Strong communication skills (including verbal and written)
  • Demonstrated proactiveness and initiative to drive to results
  • Exhibits strong level of technical curiosity and desire to seek understanding
  • Active Department of Defense Secret Security Clearance

Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations and refers to the amount BNH is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time jobs will be adjusted based upon the number of hours agreed to work at location Tennessee: Arnold Air Force, TN.
