About the Role:

We're looking for a Software Developer experienced in building backend cloud-native applications using Python and AWS services. In this role, you'll play a critical part in designing and implementing scalable backend systems and data workflows that power our application and analytics platforms. You'll collaborate closely with product, engineering, and analytics teams to deliver reliable and performance-backed services using AWS Lambda, Redshift, RDS, and more.

Key Responsibilities:

Backend Systems Development:
  • Design, develop, support and maintain scalable internal applications using AWS, Python, SQL, Stored Procedures, Step Functions, Lambda, Gateway API, Glue.
  • Build serverless functions and microservices to support application features and data processing workflows.
  • Collaborate with data teams to deliver complete, end-to-end solutions.

Data Processing, Integration, Architecture and Design:
  • Design and develop solutions using scalable data architectures using AWS cloud services, including data lakes, data warehouses, bulk data ingestion, and transaction processing.
  • Develop and maintain ETL pipelines using AWS Glue and Python to ingest, transform, and enrich data from various internal and external sources.
  • Integrate APIs, batch jobs, and real-time data streams using services like Amazon Lambda, Glue, Kinesis, Step Functions, and S3.

Cloud Infrastructure:
  • Leverage AWS services including Lambda, Glue, Step Functions, Redshift, RDS, S3, and Kinesis to build robust and cost-effective backend solutions.
  • Administer and optimize cloud-native databases including Redshift, PostgreSQL, and MySQL (RDS/Aurora).
  • Monitor and tune backend applications and data pipelines for optimal performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
  • Implement caching, partitioning, and batching strategies to accelerate processing and reduce latency.

Security & Compliance:
  • Ensure backend services and data flows adhere to industry standards and regulatory compliance requirements (e.g., HIPAA).
  • Implement robust access control and data protection strategies.

Collaboration & Leadership:
  • Partner with product managers, data analysts, and engineers to translate requirements into efficient backend solutions.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship within the development team.
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and backend development standards.

Continuous Improvement:
  • Drive automation and infrastructure-as-code practices to streamline development and deployment.
  • Implement DevOps CI/CD Pipelines for current and new products
  • Identify opportunities to optimize code, processes, and systems for greater efficiency and reliability.

The skills and experience you bring to this role include:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Informatics, Information Systems, or another quantitative field.
  • 5+ years of experience in software development or a similar role with demonstrated technical leadership experience.
  • Strong Software development skills and prior experience using Python, SQL, and Stored Procedures, AWS Lambda, API, Glue.
  • Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL), writing views, stored procedures and triggers in an AWS Cloud Environment with RedShift, Aurora, PostgreSQL or similar RDBMS.
  • Experience with healthcare claims data (HL7, Medical Claims, Rx Claims) or similar healthcare data is required.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Salary Considerations:

Anticipated annual base pay range: $100,000 - $130,000 plus additional variable compensation based on performance.
