In this role, you will support software modernization efforts by providing independent technical evaluation of contractor-led development activities, including software architecture, algorithm performance, open systems architecture, communications, and data strategies.

This is a full-time position at Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado. This role is hybrid with approximately 1-2 days remote based on Government discretion. Travel may be required to CONUS and OCUNS locations (approx. 10%).

Multiple levels of this position are available.

Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Review and evaluate contractor-performed analyses of the existing software architecture, code base, and performance, providing the Government with independent assessments of software deficiencies, obsolescence, and maintainability issues.
  • Assess and provide technical recommendations on contractor-proposed software modernization strategies, including architectural redesigns, algorithm enhancements (e.g., signal processing, tracking, data fusion), and data format modifications (e.g., message formats, database structures).
  • Oversee the prime contractor's software development life-cycle, including adherence to modern practices such as Agile and DevSecOps, providing the Government with an independent assessment of progress, risks, and quality.
  • Review, comment on, and recommend for Government approval all contractor-generated software documentation, including, but not limited to, Software Requirements Specifications (SRS), Software Design Documents (SDD), and Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
  • Oversee and witness prime contractor-led software testing activities (including unit, integration, and performance testing). Analyze test plans and results to ensure software requirements are fully verified and advise the Government on software readiness.
  • Collaborate with Government hardware, systems, and cybersecurity engineers to ensure software and hardware modernization efforts are fully integrated and aligned across all system interfaces.
  • Assess, assist, and provide recommendations for Modular Open System Architecture definition, requirements, implementation, verification, and validation.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on software-related risks and opportunities during technical reviews, configuration management boards, and other program management activities.
  • Provide continuous technical support and recommendations to the Government team throughout all phases of the acquisition life-cycle, including major technical reviews (e.g., SRR, PDR, CDR), configuration management, and system-level testing.
  • Assist with Configuration Control Boards, Engineering Trades, Requirements Verification, Requirements Mapping, and all aspects of baseline management at all levels of the program.
