Job Title: Android Full-Stack Engineer
Location: Dearborn, MI
Job Type: W2 Contract
Expected hours per week: 40 hours per week
Schedule: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM EST
Pay: $70 per hour
We are seeking an experienced Android Full-Stack Engineer to join our Platform Stability team. This role focuses on diagnosing and resolving complex Android platform issues across the entire stack, from Android Framework and system server components to native services, HALs, and vendor layers.
You will work directly with AOSP source code, drive root-cause analysis of difficult stability issues, and help ensure platform reliability across Android releases.
Key Responsibilities - Design and develop Android middleware and platform background services.
- Debug and modify AOSP framework and native components.
- Resolve platform issues including boot failures, black screens, crashes, and ANRs.
- Investigate and fix issues in Activity Manager, Window Manager, Package Manager, SurfaceFlinger, and Car Service.
- Support Android version upgrades and platform integrations.
- Analyze and resolve CTS, VTS, ATS, and STS failures.
- Provide technical leadership on complex or difficult-to-reproduce issues.
Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 3+ years of Android platform/framework development experience.
- Strong programming skills in Kotlin, Java, and C++.
- Experience developing Android services, middleware, and Binder/AIDL interfaces.
- Hands-on experience with AOSP source code and Android framework internals.
- Proven ability to debug issues across framework, native, and vendor layers.
- Strong root-cause analysis and troubleshooting skills.
Preferred Qualifications - Android Automotive OS (AAOS) and Car Service experience.
- Experience with HAL development and vendor integration.
- Knowledge of SurfaceFlinger and Android graphics/display stack.
- Experience with CTS, VTS, ATS, and STS compliance testing.
- Familiarity with Perfetto, Systrace, Logcat, GDB, and LLDB.
- Experience with Soong/Make build systems and Android partition architecture.
