Full Job Description
The Data Engineer creates, and maintains data processing architectures and solutions allowing the efficient conversion of structured and unstructured data to insights at enterprise scale. The Data Engineer 2 work assignments are varied and frequently require interpretation and independent determination of the appropriate courses of action.

The Data Engineer 2 Ingests data from internal and external sources using cloud native platforms and software development best practices and patterns. Develop software tools that use artificial intelligence, machine learning, and big-data techniques to cleanse, organize, and transform data into insights and actions that enables Humana to better serve our members. Understand department, segment, and organizational strategy and operating goals, including their linkages to related areas. Makes decisions regarding own work methods, occasionally in ambiguous situations, and requires minimal direction and receives guidance where needed. Follows established guidelines/procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement data ingestion and integration workflows, including batch and near-real-time processing across internal and external data sources.
  • Participate in the implementation and modernization of data platforms, including migration or integration of legacy on-premise SQL-based environments with cloud-based platforms such as Databricks, observing established architecture standards.
  • Develop and support data migration and system integration approaches to ensure reliable, secure, and accurate data movement across enterprise systems.
  • Proficiently use technologies, and frameworks used within assigned systems to support modernization and optimization efforts.
  • Collaborate with onshore and offshore team members to support execution of defined technical tasks.
  • Monitor system behavior and data flows during deployment and production support, and resolve issues related to performance, availability, or data quality.
  • Follow established change management, governance, and escalation procedures.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Data Science, Engineering or related fields.
  • 3+ years of experience applying specialized technical knowledge to analyze, integrate, or support information systems or data platforms in an enterprise environment.
  • Experience working with data integration, system modernization, or analytical reporting platforms.
  • Experience with Databricks, SQL, PySpark, SparkSQL.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree.
  • Experience with modernizing large data engineering processes from on-prem to the cloud.
  • Experience with Azure cloud, ADLS, Unity Catalog, Delta Lake, Oracle.
  • Experience with Claude Code, Genie Code, or similar tools.

Pay Range
The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.

$80,900 - $110,300 per year

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
