Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Software Engineer in our Chantilly, VA office in support of our Intelligence Community customer as part of a highly talented, highly motivated and high-performing team. As part of the systems engineering team, you will be supporting the Enterprise Xcelerator Lab, a research & development laboratory catered to mission integration and user engagement. You will be working with other agencies and industry partners that involves design, development, integration, test, and deployment of exciting and complex systems in an Agile construct to contribute to mission success for a variety of stakeholders. What you’ll do:

  • Conduct research in design, development, testing and utilization of electronic data processing software.
  • Design, develop, document, test and debug applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions.
  • Conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborate with equipment designers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software.
  • Determine computer user needs; analyze system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepare operating instructions.
  • Ensure software standards are met.
  • Analyze user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints.
  • Confer with systems analysts, engineers, programmers and others to design system and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces.
  • Design, develop and modify software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcomes and consequences of design.
  • Coordinate software system installations and monitor system functioning to ensure specifications are met.
Qualifications

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of relevant experience. Additional four (4) years of experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree will be considered. 
  • This position requires an active TS/SCI clearance with poly. The candidate must maintain the clearance.
  • Experience developing secure and well-tested API using Python/Java
  • Experience developing frontends using JavaScript frameworks
  • Experience maintaining, monitoring, and debugging software deployed in the cloud, preferably AWS
  • Experience developing performant relational database designs
  • Experience working with Git and with web-based repositories such at Bitbucket or GitLab
  • Active or ability to obtain a DoD 8570 certification, including Security+ or CISSP, within 6 months of start date

Desired qualifications:

  • Experience working with  Restful API's
  • Experience working with AWS services: EC2, ECS, RDS, S3, CloudWatch, or Amazon Workspaces
  • Experience developing in a *nix  environment and familiarity with basic and advanced terminal commands Experience containerizing software with Docker
  • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience working in an Agile development process
  • Experience managing Elasticsearch, reindexing and data mappings, JSON and KQL searching syntax, and Kibana dashboard options

Target Salary Range$86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
