The Measurement, Ad Tech, and Data Science (MADS) organization at Amazon Ads is looking for a Software Development Manager to lead an engineering team building the large-scale attribution systems that help advertisers understand how their advertising investments drive meaningful customer and business outcomes.
Attribution is at the heart of advertising measurement. It connects ad interactions with downstream outcomes - such as purchases, subscriptions, and other conversions - to help advertisers understand campaign performance, optimize their advertising spend, and make better investment decisions. The measurements produced by our systems are consumed across Amazon Ads products and increasingly serve as foundational signals for optimization systems, machine learning models, analytics applications, and AI-powered advertising experiences.
Building accurate attribution at Amazon scale is a uniquely challenging engineering and scientific problem. Our systems process more than 50 billion events per day and must connect signals across complex customer journeys, advertising products, devices, and channels while navigating incomplete and fragmented identity signals, evolving privacy requirements, changing measurement methodologies, and increasingly sophisticated advertiser needs. At the same time, our measurements must remain accurate, consistent, timely, explainable, and cost efficient. Small decisions in data processing or attribution methodology can affect measurement for millions of advertisers and influence how significant advertising investments are allocated.
You will lead a team of engineers designing and operating the distributed data systems behind Amazon Ads attribution. Our technology stack includes large-scale data processing using Apache Spark and Amazon EMR, data storage and processing technologies such as Apache Iceberg, DynamoDB, and S3, and distributed services built on AWS technologies including ECS and other cloud-native infrastructure. The team builds systems that ingest, enrich, join, and process massive volumes of advertising and conversion signals and transforms them into accurate, actionable measurements available across Amazon Ads.
This role goes beyond operating an existing platform. You will partner closely with product managers, applied scientists, and economists to shape the long-term vision for attribution measurement. Together, you will determine how Amazon Ads should measure increasingly complex customer journeys, translate new attribution methodologies into scalable production systems, and make deliberate tradeoffs across measurement accuracy, signal coverage, latency, privacy, explainability, and infrastructure cost.
This is a hands-on engineering leadership role. You will set technical direction alongside senior engineers, dive deep into architecture and operational issues, challenge designs with concrete alternatives, and build a team capable of solving difficult distributed-systems and data problems. You will also influence teams across Amazon Ads, aligning measurement architecture and methodologies across advertising products and ensuring that attribution evolves as advertiser needs, privacy expectations, and the advertising ecosystem change.
Your team's work directly influences how advertisers understand the value of Amazon Ads, how campaigns and automated systems optimize advertising investments, and ultimately how Amazon's advertising business grows.
