Position Description
As a Software Development Manager, you will lead a high-performing team of developers, driving innovation and collaboration to deliver impactful solutions. You'll oversee development efforts, translating business needs into cutting-edge .NET applications while fostering a culture of technical excellence. As a strategic leader, you'll shape workflows, manage resources, and ensure software governance, all while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships. Your expertise will guide the team in optimizing performance, navigating challenges, and implementing forward-thinking solutions that fuel business growth. With your vision and leadership, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of technology within the Court.
Key Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership - Manage assigned teams directly or through supervisors, ensuring work priorities align with policies, regulations, and organizational quality standards.
  • Staff Development - Select, hire, mentor, and train staff while overseeing performance management, coaching, evaluations, and corrective actions as needed.
  • Communication & Collaboration - Foster effective communication across teams, departments, and leadership through workgroup discussions and feedback exchanges.
  • Project & Solution Oversight - Partner with development and design teams to lead application and integration solutions, ensuring alignment with business needs.

This is an at-will managerial position. The Trial Court Employment Protection and Governance Act (SB 2140) authorizes the Court to exclude managerial employees from the employment protection provisions of the Act subject to meet and confer.

This position may be eligible for full or partial telework following an initial training period and contingent upon the needs of the Court.
SELECTION REQUIREMENTS

To qualify, you must meet one of the following options at the final filing date of this bulletin:
  • OPTION I: 9+ years' of experience in software development; two years of which must include experience in managing or supervising a team.
  • OPTION II: Associate's degree* in information technology, computer science, management information systems, or related field; -AND- 7+ years' of experience in software development; two years of which must include experience in managing or supervising a team.
  • OPTION III: Bachelor's degree* in information technology, computer science, management information systems, or related field; -AND- 5+ years' of experience in software development; two years of which must include experience in managing or supervising a team.
  • OPTION IV: Master's degree* in information technology, computer science, management information systems, or related field; -AND- 3+ years' of experience in software development; two years of which must include experience in managing or supervising a team.

Note: Credit for experience is based on a 40-hour workweek. Part-time experience is credited on a pro rate basis (e.g. working 20 hours per week for two months equals one month of experience). Overtime does not count toward additional credit.
