Full Job Description
Key job responsibilities

- Design, develop, test, and deploy scalable software components for S3 Metadata infrastructure, ensuring operational excellence throughout the full software development lifecycle

- Build distributed systems leveraging modern technologies like Apache Iceberg to handle infinite-scale metadata storage and query processing

- Participate actively in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to teammates and continuously improving code quality and engineering practices

- Collaborate with customers, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and deliver solutions that balance feature development with operational needs

- Own operational support for your services, investigating root causes of issues and implementing permanent solutions that enhance system reliability and customer experience

A day in the life

You'll design elegant solutions to complex metadata storage challenges, write high-quality code, and see your features come to life as you deploy and operate services in production. Your day involves collaborating with engineers across Amazon to integrate innovative technologies, testing at scale, and monitoring real customer usage. You'll witness firsthand how your software solves critical problems-enabling enterprises to query trillions of objects efficiently and unlock AI-driven insights from their data lakes.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

- Experience programming with at least one software programming language

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. As a total compensation company, Amazon's package may include other elements such as sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, basic life & AD&D insurance), Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP), Deferred Profit Sharing Plan (DPSP), paid time off, and other resources to improve health and well-being.
