Our team manages Kompass, an AI Development Lifecycle (AIDLC) solution that enforces security and controllership compliance across all AI-assisted development within FinTech. The solution provides ambient governance through programmatic rule enforcement, automated risk classification, and real-time compliance checks embedded invisibly within the tools that engineers and citizen developers already use. Kompass ensures that every automation interacting with financial systems meets security, operational readiness, and controllership standards, enabling teams to build confidently while maintaining the control rigor that regulated financial systems demand.
Kompass aims to evolve into a comprehensive AI governance fabric spanning all development personas and platforms. The solution will extend ambient controllership to citizen developers through risk-tiered guardrails, expand rule coverage with automated scanning and remediation capabilities, and integrate across all agentic harnesses to ensure deterministic compliance enforcement regardless of platform or builder sophistication.
Key job responsibilities
This is a hands-on position where you will do everything from designing and building extremely scalable components and features to formulating strategy and driving the roadmap. You will have opportunities to develop software on the latest platforms and build analytical workflows. You will push your design and architecture limits by owning all aspects of solutions end-to-end, through full stack software development. You have strong verbal and written communication skills, are self-driven, and can deliver high quality results in a fast-paced environment. You will work across Amazon engineering teams and business teams across the globe in planning, designing, executing and implementing this new platform across multiple geographies. You will also mentor junior engineers and work with the most sophisticated customers in the business to help them get the best results. You will be surrounded by world-class technical talent, who are incredibly passionate about our product.
A day in the life
As an SDE, you will be involved in all parts of a software developer lifecycle - including software & system designing, coding, troubleshooting, testing, doing code reviews, testing, deployment and service maintenance. You will play an active role in all team meetings & discussion, leading project initiatives, influencing team's long term vision & strategies, partnering up with senior engineers and peer colleagues. You have strong verbal and written communication skills, are self-driven, and can deliver high quality results in a fast-paced environment.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 1+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's degree in computer science or equivalent
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
- Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence
The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
