The Connect Telecom Engineering team is responsible for provisioning and maintaining connectivity to global telecom carriers, managing the backend telecom infrastructure, and troubleshooting customer issues related to telephony. Our team owns the Session Border Controller (SBC) service used to route calls between Amazon Connect and telecom carriers, ensuring reliable delivery of voice services and telecommunications systems that connect millions of customer interactions worldwide.
We have a rapidly growing customer base and an exciting charter that includes solving highly complex engineering and algorithmic problems in the telephony domain. We are looking for a passionate and talented Software Development Engineer to join us to innovate on the telecom infrastructure that powers Amazon Connect's voice capabilities. Key job responsibilities
As a developer on our team, you'll own code end-to-end from design to development, and work closely with technical leaders within the team and across AWS. You'll have a sound understanding of computer science fundamentals and practical industry experience, working across the stack with technologies involving SIP/VoIP, modern web services, SOA, NoSQL databases, and distributed systems at scale.
A day in the life
1. Evaluate design decisions that make telecom systems secure, scalable, fault-tolerant, and highly available with low latency.
2. Implement software solutions for carrier connectivity, call routing, and telecom infrastructure automation.
3. Improve the operational excellence of the services the team owns, including the SBC platform and carrier management systems.
4. Provide cross-team impact by mentoring others, participating in operations, design reviews, document reviews, and contributing to team/org goals.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
- 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
- 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
