Full Job Description

Join a backend integration team responsible for building, onboarding, and maintaining integrations with EHR health systems. In this role, you’ll design and support reliable, scalable backend services that enable critical healthcare workflows. You’ll work closely with product managers and fellow engineers in a highly collaborative environment, contributing to well‑scoped features while continuing to grow technical depth and system knowledge.

This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys backend development, distributed systems, and cross‑functional collaboration, and who values code quality, operational reliability, and continuous learning.

What You’ll Do 

  • Build and maintain backend services that support EHR integrations 

  • Contribute to onboarding new integrations and improving operational reliability 

  • Collaborate closely with product managers on solution design and delivery 

  • Pair regularly with teammates and participate in code reviews 

  • Own and deliver well‑scoped features with guidance from senior engineers 

  • Communicate progress, risks, and tradeoffs clearly with the team 

 

Priority will be given to candidates who reside in the Columbus, OH metropolitan area. This role will allow for remote working.

Minimum Qualifications 

Degree or equivalent and typically requires 4+ years of relevant experience. 

 

Experience & Education 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or another STEM field, or equivalent practical experience

Critical Skills (Must Have) 

  • 4+ years of professional software engineering experience 

  • Strong (4+ years) hands‑on experience building backend services

  • Experience working with Kafka or similar event‑driven / messaging platforms 

  • Experience designing, building, or supporting system integrations

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills 

Preferred Skills (Nice to Have) 

  • Experience with Ruby, React, or JavaScript in legacy or supporting systems 

  • Experience supporting production systems with reliability and operational ownership 

  • Exposure to healthcare systems, EHR platforms, or regulated environments 

  • Comfort pairing or mobbing as part of a collaborative engineering culture
