About the job

This position is needed to define and drive the vision, software architecture, and establish the AI/ML platforms across all of our business functions internally at Twilio.

Our charter and remit has expanded to cover all of the business teams companywide, including Marketing, Sales, Customer Support & Global Operations, along with our corporate functions, including HR/People, Finance, Legal, Security & Privacy. This role requires a deep understanding of AI/ML platforms, full-stack software architecture, a strategic system design mindset, and the ability to drive innovation and efficiency across the organization.

The AI/ML Software Architect position will serve as a key technical leader in our Enterprise AI Engineering group, and s/he will provide architectural guidance globally, across our U.S., Canada, Colombia, and India teams. You will be responsible for shaping our long-term technical vision, establishing architectural standards and guardrails, and establishing our best practices for the modern AI-Assisted SDLC practice. You will drive cross-organizational initiatives, solve complex and ambiguous technical challenges, and partner with other Cross-BU Software Architects to elevate the technical standard for Twilio company-wide.

You will be responsible for guiding technical blueprints, mentoring developers, and partnering with program managers, designers, full stack developers, and AI/ML engineers to set our team up for long-term success. The ideal candidate should have experience across the software lifecycle from architecture, design, development, deployment and maintenance of modern, cloud applications. This leadership role requires a range of technical expertise in full-stack software architecture, LLM and Agentic Applications, and ability to drive effective stakeholder collaboration and present work with executive leadership. Responsibilities
In this role, you'll:
  • Establish and model a high-performance culture of our Software Engineering team.
  • Grow and mentor senior technical leaders, building a durable culture of engineering excellence.
  • Lead architecture for the Enterprise AI engineering platform and products, ensuring consistency and quality through cross-product reviews and shared standards.
  • Partner closely with product, engineering, and executive partners to shape where we're headed.
  • Own the most complex engineering problems at enterprise scale.
  • Present to executive leadership on our AI Engineering plans and deliverables.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work across different verticals (Support, Sales, Marketing, Operations, etc.) to ideate, develop, and implement new AI/ML solutions that drive business growth.
  • Cultivate a team of builders and owners that collaborate, grow and continuously improve together.

Location

This role will be remote and based in Ontario, British Columbia or Alberta, Canada.

Travel

Compensation

The estimated pay ranges for this role are as follows:
  • $234,880 - $293,600 CAD
  • Target Bonus Percentage 20%


The successful candidate's starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location.
  • This role may be eligible to participate in Twilio's equity plan. All roles are generally eligible for the following benefits: health care insurance, 401(k) retirement account, paid sick time, paid personal time off, paid parental leave.
