Job Description

Job Title: Social Worker - Inpatient Med/Surg

The social worker in this position is responsible for providing psychosocial services with an emphasis on complex discharge planning for patients on 9 East. The majority of 9 East patients are on the medicine and liver medicine services, while the remaining patients have gastrointestinal diseases and require surgical intervention (for Crohn's, ulcerative colitis, G.I. cancers and liver disease). The social worker will provide a range of psychosocial interventions, including support for patients and families coping with the impact of acute and chronic illness, linkage to substance abuse treatment resources, and end of life planning. The social worker will collaborate as a member of the interdisciplinary team, which requires strong interdisciplinary skills, as well as knowledge of crisis intervention and family systems.

Responsibilities

The social worker will be an integral part of hospital and unit-specific initiatives and have the opportunity to participate in program development and implementation. Coverage includes other medicine/surgery units.

Qualifications

  • Internal candidates: Minimum one year in current position unless a Float in Medicine.


Compensation Statement

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $88,690.00 - $101,670.78 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
