The Social Strategist is responsible for building the social strategy across brands, and guiding the day-to-day content development in line with platform best practices, creative best practices and audience learnings. They will guide content priorities, pressure-test ideas against cultural relevance, and establish strategic roadmaps for General Motors brands on social.
The Opportunity
Social Strategy & Platform Architecture
- Develop social-specific strategies, channel roles, and content formats across Meta, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and X.
- Conduct annual audits of social platforms and industry best practices.
- Author content briefs that align with U.S. content timing while integrating relevant Canadian cultural moments, holidays, and events.
- Coordinate paid social boosting strategies for high-performing organic content to drive conversion and reach.
Creative Integration
- Collaborate closely with PR and communications counterparts to integrate earned initiatives into social channel plans.
- Pressure-test creative ideas against platform algorithms, audience behaviors, and brand objectives.
- Support real-time strategy ideation for reactive opportunities and major announcements.
Collaboration & Analytics Integration
- Partner with Data Analysts to review performance data and convert channel insights into actionable strategy updates.
- Collaborate on integrated briefs and with partner agencies.
Maintain a Pulse on Culture
- Stay informed on platform feature rollouts, trends, EV market dynamics, and culture.
What you'll bring:
- 5-7 years of social media strategy experience within an agency or consumer brand environment.
- Proven track record in social including growing communities, delivering breakthrough creative work on social.
- Experience developing social playbooks, channel planning, and working with cross-functional teams
- Native fluency in French and English with deep knowledge of Quebec culture.
