Job Description We're looking for a
Social Media Strategist who will be responsible for the Laboratory's current platforms and seek opportunities to grow our online communities. You will translate complex scientific and technical information to create engaging, educational, original content and create a unique voice for the Laboratory. You will publicize scientific and technological breakthroughs, promote the Lab's values and highlight the Lab's greatest asset - its employees. This position is in the Office of Strategic Communications, reporting to the Deputy Director of Public and Media Relations.
This position offers a hybrid schedule, blending in-person and virtual presence. You will have the flexibility to work from home one or more days per week.
You will- Lead creation and review of high-quality, accurate and engaging content that showcases LLNL's news releases, web features, announcements, events, social media holidays and trending topics of relevance to the Laboratory and its audiences.
- Serve as the social media point of contact to colleagues in the Office of Strategic Communications and the Laboratory, advising onbest practices and social media policiesand contributing to institutional Community of Practice.
- Contribute multimedia production for social (graphics, short videos, motion graphics, reels, livestream support), including partneringwith digital communications colleagues and others for video production and graphic supportto complement social media strategy.
- Identify emerging trends and platform updates to ensure LLNL stays at the forefront of digital communication.
- Develop effective working relationships with programs and organizations throughout the Laboratory to facilitate social media strategy and accompanying multimedia content.
- Create and maintain annual content plans, campaign frameworks and messaging calendars.
- Track performance metrics, analyze engagement data and coordinate with OSC colleagues on social media metrics reporting.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications - Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
- Bachelor's Degree in English, Journalism, Communications or related field or the equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Experience planning and producing accessible social media on a variety of topics, including topics technical in nature.
- Experience developing social media content calendars and campaign plans to promote various activities and initiatives on platforms such as Facebook, X (formerly Twitter),Threads, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, Reddit and others.
- Knowledge of and experience with social media production and evaluation platforms and video/ photo editing software (i.e. Sprout Social, Meta Business Suite, Adobe Suite Products, etc.).
- Experience analyzing engagement metrics and producing performance reports.
- Experience successfully meeting deadlines while handling multiple assignments effectively.
- Strong communication skills, including an excellent command of English grammar, spelling and mechanics.
- Effective interpersonal skills including tact and diplomacy to effectively interact with all levels of employees and the general public.
Qualifications We Desire- Experience in multimedia production including photography, graphic design and/ or video.
- Experience working at a national laboratory or federally funded facility.
- Experience with public outreach.
- Experience with emergency crisis communications.
Pay Range$95,820 - $117,312Annually
This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting; pay will not be below any applicable local minimum wage. An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
