  • Provide remote and onsite technical support for equipment operation, including commissioning and personnel training.
  • Inspect and test materials and machinery for safety compliance and proper operations.
  • Investigate customer complaints and warranty claims to identify causes requiring corrective action.
  • Prepare timely and detailed reports on customer visit diagnoses, including technical issues and maintenance recommendations.
  • Deliver technical training to end-users to ensure they can operate and maintain equipment effectively.

Job Description

The role of the Field Service Engineer is to provide standard and advanced technical and sales support to customers, including evaluating customer claims for warranty disposition, scheduling and coordinating customer visits and project work to minimize travel expenses and optimize completion dates, and assisting Engineering/Manufacturing in design recommendations and new equipment inspections.

This position will require the ability to travel as needed while working remotely, up to 80%

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Respond to customer and vendor inquiries, collaborate effectively to determine urgency and type of need, and explain complex issues and resolutions.
  • Provide remote and onsite technical support on all aspects of equipment operation, including system commissioning, personnel training, and troubleshooting of standard and complex problems.
  • Inspect and test materials and machinery, including instrument loop checks and system safety checks, to ensure correct operations and compliance with all safety regulations.
  • Investigate customer complaints and warranty claims to determine if failures are due to customer error, design issues, or supplier problems requiring corrective action.
  • Provide timely and detailed reports to the central office based on customer visit diagnoses, including technical issues, maintenance recommendations, and resolutions.
  • Deliver technical training to end-users during installation and commissioning to ensure proper equipment operation and maintenance.


Qualifications

What we are looking for:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing) or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Hands-on Mechanical or Electrical experience with manufacturing equipment, ideally in the aluminum or primary metals industry, and experience working with industrial fuel fired equipment/engineered systems, and PLC controls preferred.
  • Technical Skills. Ability to assess, troubleshoot and repair machinery by referring to and applying principles, techniques, and standard operating procedures. Basic knowledge of raw materials, production processes, and basic machinery. Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models. Ability to apply PLC knowledge in design, programming, and maintenance of automated machinery and equipment.
  • Computer/Applications Skills. Proficient computer skills using a variety of software applications systems, including Microsoft Office Products, Visio, and Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (CADD).
  • Travel and Work Requirements. Ability to travel by land and air up to 80%, both domestically and globally. Valid driver's license and US Passport, or ability to obtain required. Ability to work extended hours based on the needs of the business.
