Position Overview

Smart Infrastructure, Federal Vertical Market Team - Federal Business Development Manager

This position will be in the greater DC metro areas.

Role Description

You'll make an impact by:
  • Developing and executing account growth strategies for assigned U.S. Federal agencies, including customer relationship plans, pursuit priorities, and long-term growth objectives.
  • Building a qualified pipeline of new opportunities by understanding agency missions, infrastructure priorities, procurement needs, regulatory drivers, and funding cycles.
  • Identifying, shaping, and influencing opportunities during the pre-acquisition phase through customer engagement, partner collaboration, and strategic positioning activities that improve Siemens' probability of win while in partnership with sales executives, sales leadership, business segment teams, operations, and Federal ecosystem partners.
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with Federal end users, program offices, contracting teams, engineering stakeholders, prime contractors, small businesses, and strategic teaming partners.
  • Connecting customer mission requirements to Siemens solutions across building automation, fire and life safety, security, electrical infrastructure, energy, digital services, cybersecurity, and smart infrastructure.
  • Representing Siemens at customer meetings, industry events, partner sessions, and internal business reviews while sharing market intelligence, competitive insights, and forecast updates.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, construction management, energy, public administration, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in business development, sales, strategic account management, capture support, Federal contracting, infrastructure solutions, building technologies, energy services, electrical systems, cybersecurity, or a related customer-facing role.
  • Experience working with U.S. Federal customers, Federal prime contractors, Federal contracting processes, government procurement cycles, or Federal infrastructure programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify new opportunities, develop customer relationships, influence stakeholders, support win strategies, and translate customer needs into actionable business plans.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% for customer meetings, industry events, partner engagements, and internal collaboration.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer sponsored work authorization.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of experience in Federal business development, Federal sales, account management, capture management, energy services, building automation, security, fire and life safety, electrical infrastructure, digital building solutions, or related government markets.
  • Existing relationships across Federal civilian, defense, intelligence, or government contractor communities.
  • Experience with Federal acquisition methods, contract vehicles
  • Knowledge of Federal facility modernization, energy resilience, decarbonization, cybersecurity, connected buildings, smart infrastructure, or mission-critical operations.
  • Advanced degree such as MBA or a Masters in Science/Engineering
