ROLE OVERVIEW
The basic functions of the Site Superintendent are to:
- Assume the role of company representative on site,
- Be responsible for site contractual issues, record keeping, and related paperwork.

- Quality production, on time, on budget
- Liaise with engineers and owners
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Site Superintendent is responsible for the following:
- Demonstrate CME Personal Protective Equipment standard by attending morning meeting in hard hat, high-vis safety vest, steel toed boots
- Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate construction projects from start to finish according to schedule, specifications and budget
- Remain fully briefed and maintain on going communication on technical and contractual issues with the Project Manager and VP Construction.
- Effectively organize work site in order to the expedite project in the most efficient manner.
- Creating project schedules based upon initial tender schedule as provided by the Project Manager and maintains and updates the schedule as required.
- Complete and submit site paperwork. The following must be neat, organized, accurately coded, and submitted to dispatch on a daily basis:
- Time sheets,
- Material purchase orders,
- Packing slips and trucking slips,
- Sub-contractor time sheets.
- Maintaining a daily log book that accurately tracks site activity and includes a photo log if required. It is understood that the diary is the property of CME Ltd.
- Inform Project Manager and VP Construction of changes in the scope of work with respect to Contemplated Change Orders.
- Work with the Project Manager and VP Construction to finalize Change Orders.
- Accurately code and itemize all billable details on Job Reports and acquire signatures from the client for billing authorization daily.
- Assists Project Manager in preparation and completion of monthly progress draws.
- Order all material through Dispatch to assure timely delivery and project flow. All planning is done at least two days in advance and be effectively communicated to operations.
- Coordinate equipment and manpower with VP Construction to ensure project efficiency and the effective use of company equipment and personnel.
- Ensure ongoing quality control.
- Ensure a safe work site.
- Ensure customer satisfaction by displaying a cooperative courteous manner while maintaining CME Ltd interests.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
The Site Superintendent will demonstrate the following in their daily work:
- Knowledge of construction standards and codes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A solid understanding of construction management procedures
- Problem solving skills
- Time management skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing various duties, while meeting scheduled deadlines.
- Adept computer skills, especially in Microsoft Office and HCSS Heavy Job Manager
- Capable of initiating and adapting to change
- Proactive risk management
- Customer service skills including the ability to communicate effectively with the general public
- Interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively with other Civil Construction and Coastal Mountain Excavations employees
QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid Class 5 BC Drivers' Licence
- 5-10 years civil/excavation experience, 2-5 years Project Management experience. Lead site operations, safety, scheduling and quality control.
- Engineering technologist or equivalent education. Additional management training through seminars or extended education classes are an asset.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- $40.49 - $47.17 per hour
- Two (2) weeks of paid vacation per calendar year
- Extended health and dental benefits (including spouse and dependents)
VISA REQUIREMENTS
- You must be legally eligible to work in Canada
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
- 7:30am - 5:00pm, Monday - Friday
- 40 hours per week, minimum
- Weekends, long hours will be required
