Full Job Description

Ameresco is looking for a Site Safety Manager to work on a project we have at the Navel Research Laboratory in Washington D.C. The project will will be 2-3 years in length.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare the Site-Specific Safety Plans and Activity Hazard Analysis for assigned Business Unit projects;

  • Ensure compliance to all Safety Policies and adopted Standards;

  • Ensure personal protective equipment meets applicable OSHA/EPA requirements and employees are trained on proper use;

  • Conduct Safety Audits of assigned project sites ensuring work is being accomplished safely and occupational health is not compromised;

  • Safety training of all personnel assigned to project;

  • Conduct project safety inspections with follow-up inspections of any open items;

  • Review Subcontractor safety qualifications and attend Pre-Construction Meetings;

  • Creation and evaluating activity hazard reviews;

  • Regulatory compliance with OSHA and Ameresco standards and conducts accident and incident investigations;

  • Development and Implementation of Corrective Action Plans;

  • Work with project supervision to create safety solutions to safety problems;

  • Foster and maintains a positive safety culture for the project personnel;

  • Maintain all safety certifications as required by contracts;

  • Conduct quarterly safety meetings for Project Staff;

  • Produce Safety Reports of activities performed;

  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner to get along with customers, co-workers, supervisors, and management;

  • Lead Incident/accident Investigations; and

  • Perform other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.S. Degree in Occupational Safety & Health Engineering or similar Field

  • Minimum of 5+ years construction industry safety experience on similar projects, ability to effectively communicate safety within a project team

  • An average of at least 24 hours of formal safety training each year for the past 5 years withtraining for competent person status for at least the following 4 areas of competency: Excavation; Scaffolding; Fall protection; Hazardous energy; Confined space; Health hazard recognition, evaluation and control ofchemical, physical and biological agents;

  • Construction Health and Safety Technician Certification

  • EM385-1-1 40-Hr. Safety Certification

  • Current OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification

  • Current First Aid & CPR Certification

  • NFPA 70E certification for flash training

Additional Qualifications:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and other basic computer skills.

  • Must be organized, proactive and have proven experience in OSHA Compliance.

  • Skillful communicator in both verbal and in written communication.

  • Excellent writing skills with proper grammar.

  • Ability to travel frequently

  • A great listener who can communicate professionally and in an open and positive approach.

The anticipated salary range for this role is $92,000 - $134,000 per year (presented in good faith). In addition to base pay, employees receive a comprehensive benefits package, such as health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off, and may be eligible for performance incentives, bonuses, commissions, or equity, depending on the role.

Actual pay will depend on factors such as internal equity, skills, experience, education, certifications, and location. This range supports our commitment to pay transparency and compliance with applicable laws. Compensation may vary by work location, including remote arrangements.
