Full Job Description

GFT is seeking a Safety Site Coordinator (safety and QA) to support our growing construction management practice in Fairfax / Washington DC area.  

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Provide oversight of health and safety issues that affect GF project site activities.
  • Advise on health and safety issues that affect project site activities.
  • Collaborate to ensure that health & safety provisions and training are adequate to support an effective health, safety, and environmental control program.
  • Arrange for personnel to be informed of potential safety hazards associated with their assigned tasks and verify that safe work practices and procedures outlined in the Corporate Safety Program and Project Safety Plans are instituted.
  • Direct site emergency response activities with respect to GFT employees.
  • Collaborate with personel to enforce health, safety, and environmental control provisions applicable to GF personnel at the project sites.
  • Check that GF site activities are conducted in a safe manner by conducting daily observations of site activities and provide coaching on observed deficiencies and positive feedback on compliant practices.
  • Document observations and applicable corrective actions for project files and communication to the Corporate Safety Group.
  • Authorized to stop an operation that threatens the health or safety of GF site personnel or the surrounding populace or has the potential for a significant adverse impact to the environment (STOP YOUR WORK).
  • Collaborate with the GFT PM/Construction Manager and Safety Director to enforce health, safety, and environmental control provisions applicable to GF personnel at the project site as applicable.
  • Other duties as assigned
What you will bring to our firm: 
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and/or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) Board of Certified Safety Professionals
  • OSHA 30 Construction and OSHA 500/510 training
  • Experience with NFPA 130 and NFPA 70E standards
  • National Fire Protection Association
  • Experience supporting transit, tunnels, underground station, fire/life safety, or vertical transportation infrastructure projects
  • Familiarity with outage coordination, rail operational environments, emergency preparedness, and safety certification documentation processes
  • Strong experience with contractor safety compliance, hazard mitigation tracking, and interdisciplinary coordination between construction, engineering, operations, and safety stakeholders
Compensation:The salary range for this role is $110,000 - $135,000.
