POSITION OVERVIEW AND PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

ALCYON, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Alutiiq, LLC, is accepting applications for a potential Level 1 Site Safety & Health Officer (L1 SSHO) opportunity at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX. The L1 SSHO is responsible for all O&M activities supported as part of this task order. The L1 SSHO should be physically present at the work site at all times while work is being performed. The SSHO is tasked with completely administering the contractor's safety program and ensuring compliance with both EM 385-1-1 and federal OSHA regulations.

The SSHO must be present at the work site, with mobility and reasonable access to major work operations during the shift. Required duties include:
  • Conducting and documenting daily SOH inspections
  • Maintaining a deficiency tracking system through correction
  • Reporting and investigating accidents and near misses
  • Supporting required mishap reporting (ENG Form 3394)
  • Attending preconstruction, preparatory, tailgate, pre-work, and progress meetings
  • Keeping the APP current and site-specific
  • Maintaining safety orientation and indoctrination records
  • Ensuring subcontractors and visitors follow SOH requirements
  • Keeping EM 385-1-1, APP, safety data sheets, and manufacturer instructions accessible
  • Briefing and escorting visitors, including PPE requirements
  • Coordinating with QC, PM, superintendent, subcontractors, KO/COR, and local SOHO

*This opportunity is for a POTENTIAL CONTRACT award and is contingent upon the contract being awarded. Consideration for a potential contract may require a signed letter of intent. If the contract is awarded, another position posting will be available on the Company Careers portal.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 5 years in the last 10 years performing as a L1 SSHO.
  • Must have completed the OSHA 30-hour general industry/construction safety course and have 24 hours of documented competency training.
  • Able to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Salary range: $70,000 to $100,000 per year
