Full Job Description
Turner Industries Group, LLC has an opening for an Industrial Maintenance Site Manager to join our Team in the Chicago, IL (Hammond, IN) area. The Site Manager position provides overall administrative and technical management for one jobsite. Non-exempt role; Reports to the Project Manager; Receives guidance on broad goals and overall objectives / in charge of a functional area / influences policy, but not final authority.

Essential Qualifications:
  • High school or equivalent
  • Minimum of eight (8) years construction or project management, estimating, and/or craft supervision experience in similar facility construction (preference for Union experience)
  • Eight (8) to ten (10) years of technical training and/or related experience including thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction
  • Planning, Scheduling, Estimating, cost control & budgeting
  • Knowledge of applicable Union CBA(s)
  • Quality and Safety awareness
  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, methods)
  • Advanced knowledge of jobsite crafts and ability to advise more efficient methods of productivity
  • Able to inspire employees to constant improvement while administering accountability
  • Excellent mentoring skills
  • Excellent communication, organizational and supervisory skills essential
  • Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation

Functional Requirements:

Oversee jobsite to ensure work is constructed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule; works in alliance with Project Manager; also includes interfacing with client representatives, subcontractors, security, etc.; ensure all company, client, and project policies, procedures, standards, etc. are adhered to; interpret policies as required, update and revise site specific policies and procedures as needed with Project Manager and client approvals; plan, coordinate and supervise onsite functions (planning, scheduling, engineering, material control, and may provide day-to-day direction of onsite administrative staff in accounting, purchasing, etc.); supervise craft employees and/or other contractors as required by the contract; provide technical assistance, i.e., interpretation of drawings, recommending construction methods and equipment, etc., as required; initiate and maintain extra work estimating and issuance of change orders; assume responsibility for productivity of crafts, efficient use of materials and equipment, and contractual performance; assist with implementation/interpretation of safety programs; provide effective coordination of contractor workforce; ensure compliance with Client scheduling and cost control processes; coordinate efficient utilization of resources; collaborate in managing client processes; daily interface with Client workforce; monitor / audit hiring process; monitor / audit disciplinary process; monitor / audit training development process; perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction

Turner Construction is an American construction company with presence in 20 countries. It is a subsidiary of the German company Hochtief. It is the largest domestic contractor in the United States as of 2020, with a revenue of $14.41 billion in 2020. Turner Construction was founded in New York City in 1902 by Henry Chandlee Turner. Its first project was a $690 concrete vault in Brooklyn, followed by concrete staircases for the New York City Subway. By the late 1920s, Turner was constructing buildings for large businesses in the United States. Turner's stock began trading on the American Stock Exchange in 1972. They were both also convicted of federal tax crime from this matter.
