Full Job Description
HDR is seeking a Site Civil Section Manager to join our growing Building Engineering Services (BES) group in Toronto. In this key leadership position, you will guide our site development engineering team with a focus on project delivery, team management, and technical excellence. You will manage and mentor a team of engineers and designers, oversee project execution and workload, and serve as a hands-on technical leader ensuring the delivery of high-quality site civil projects for our clients.
In the role of Site Civil Section Manager, we'll count on you to:
• Take responsibility for the daily operations of the Site Civil section, including staff development, project profitability, team morale, and quality control.
• Function as a Project Manager, taking direct responsibility for production and successful delivery on key site civil projects.
• Take administrative responsibility for section staff and lead and coordinate technical services with other groups.
• Support local marketing efforts, including strategic planning, proposal development, and interviews.
• Select, train, develop, and manage technical personnel within the section.
• Work cooperatively with Area and Regional leadership to support local and national marketing and production efforts.
• Implement, monitor, and support company policy and procedures.
• Perform other duties as needed to support the team and our clients.
Preferred Qualifications
• Actively engaged in professional or industry associations to enhance HDR technical expertise and brand.
• Forward-thinking technical aptitude, including the ability to rigorously audit, validate, and verify AI-generated outputs (e.g., technical correspondence and code interpretations) against core engineering fundamentals and regulations.
• Prior leadership and management experience.
• Project experience with land entitlement and development processes locally and in other surrounding areas.
• Experience with site development design and construction plan development.
• Proficiency with the following software: Civil3D, and Bluebeam Revu.
• Strong skills with Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel), AI-enhanced research and design process support
Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
• A minimum of 10 years experience
• Professional registration, license or certification may be required based on role
• Strong communication and listening skills
• Ability to handle multiple assignments
• Good leadership and organizational skills
