POSITION TITLE: Simulation Center Manager

COMPENSATION RANGE: 76,012.00 - 89,427.00 USD per year

Position Summary:

This position exists to assist the Chief of Simulation in all aspects of leadership, management, scheduling, training and operation of the UNC COM Simulation Center. This position is vital to the success of COM students in pre-clinical preparation for success in third and fourth year clinical rotations.

This position requires significant organizational and leadership skills. as they will assist the Chief of Simulation in the oversight operations of the UNC COM Simulation Center.

The Simulation Center Manager will work closely with both the Chief of Simulation and the Department of Primary Care, most specifically in all aspects of the Standardized Patient (SP), or live actor, simulation program. Additionally, the Simulation Manager will support the high fidelity mannikin and procedural task trainer education programs within the UNC COM Simulation Center.

The Simulation Manager will frequently interact with UNC COM faculty, students, staff and administrative leadership.

Job Duties:
• Support all operations of the Simulation Center. (Essential 15%)
• Oversee the daily operation of the Simulation Center to include the facility needs, scheduling of simulation activities and relevant training for simulation staff and UNC COM faculty, as needed. (Essential 10%)
• Maintain primary responsibility for the successful operation of the SP simulation program, including the recruitment, hiring, scheduling and training of SPs in conjunction with the Chief of Simulation and UNC COM clinical faculty. (Essential 20%)
• Operate and oversee the successful utilization of Simulation Center educational software. (Essential 10%)
• Assist in the set-up and operation of high fidelity mannikins and procedural task trainers. (Essential 10 %)
• Assist the Chief of Simulation in maintaining an accurate inventory of all simulation tools. (Essential 5%)
• Assist the Chief of Simulation in maintaining price structures related to the wear and tear and aging of simulator equipment, in addition to the cost of related disposable items. (Essential 5%)
• Assist the Chief of Simulation in the preparation of an annual budget for the Simulation Center. (5%)
• Assist the Chief of Simulation in identifying potential new technologies and equipment that may enhance the educational experience of osteopathic medical students and other potential learners. (5%)
• Assist the Chief of Simulation with the development of a strategic plan for the Simulation Center. (5%)
• Maintain current professional knowledge and grow future competence as Simulation Center Manager by participating in self-directed professional reading, staff development courses, and relevant local and national conferences, when possible. (5%)
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief of Simulation. (5%)

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or minimum of 5 years as a Manager/Director of a Healthcare Training Simulation Center
• Excellent organizational, verbal communication, and leadership skills.
• Demonstrated knowledge of and facility for Microsoft Office Suite programs to include Word, Excel, Forms and other relevant applications.
• Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, residents and medical students and staff from multiple disciplines.
• Effective writing skills.
• Willingness to participate in continuing education opportunities to further both professional development and the advancement of the capabilities of the Simulation Center.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree
• At least one year of experience working directly with Standardized Patient simulations
• Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic certification or Registered Nurse degree, and/or documented experience working in clinical healthcare settings.
• At least one year of experience working in a healthcare simulation education setting utilizing other modalities besides Standardized Patients.
• Prior management experience in an academic or healthcare education setting.
• Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator and/or Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist certification.
• Experience with data acquisition and analysis.
