Position Summary
Hanwha Defense USA is seeking an experienced System Integration Lab (SIL)/Hardware in Loop (HIL) Test Lead to develop lab requirements, implement requirements, plan, execute, and manage systems integration testing activities for an Army ground vehicle program. This individual contributor role oversees both the operation and configuration of SIL/HIL environments and works cross-functionally with engineering, software, logistics, safety, and program management teams. The ideal candidate demonstrates deep technical understanding of vehicle architectures, embedded systems, and subsystem-level integration testing across mechanical, electrical, electronic, software, power, and vetronics domains.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead SIL/HIL test execution across all vehicle subsystems including vetronics, powertrain, electrical distribution, sensors, software/firmware, network communications, and mission systems.
• Plan, develop, and maintain SIL/HIL test environments including rigs, benches, instrumentation, harnessing, networking, simulation models, and test control systems.
• Define and implement test plans, procedures, verification methods, and data collection strategies aligned with system requirements and Army program needs.
• Conduct requirements-based testing, interface verification, regression testing, and failure mode evaluation to confirm system functionality, robustness, and safety.
• Coordinate closely with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure subsystem data, interfaces, and integration points are accurately represented within the lab environment.
• Manage discrepancy reports, track test failures, lead root-cause investigations, and support corrective action development.
• Prepare and deliver formal test documentation including test plans, procedures, test reports, readiness review packages, discrepancy documentation, and verification traceability.
• Maintain configuration control of all SIL/HIL assets, software loads, wiring assemblies, network configurations, instrumentation setups, and simulation models.
• Support technical interchange meetings, design reviews, and integration working groups to ensure testing remains aligned with system development and program schedules.
• Ensure compliance with Army technical expectations, platform requirements, and relevant defense-industry testing practices.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• Extensive experience conducting SIL/HIL testing for ground vehicles, defense systems, embedded architectures, or complex integrated platforms.
• Strong understanding of vehicle electronic architectures including CAN, Ethernet, 1553, serial interfaces, sensor buses, VICTORY standards, and subsystem-level data flows.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret system requirements, engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, ICDs, interface specifications, and software architectures.
• Experience with system-level verification, functional testing, and hardware/software integration.
• Ability to plan, configure, and maintain lab environments with appropriate safety, configuration management, and test discipline.
• Excellent cross-functional communication skills and experience collaborating with engineering teams.
• U.S. citizenship required; security clearance preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience supporting tracked or wheeled military ground vehicles or mission system integration.
• Familiarity with modeling and simulation environments commonly used for HIL/SIL testing.
• Experience with regression testing frameworks, automated test setups, or structured test data analysis.
• Understanding of Army acquisition processes, technical reviews, and verification/validation documentation workflows.
