General Job Description

Dogwood Industries is seeking a Shipping Supervisor to join our team. The successful candidate will efficiently and accurately direct the shipping team in the construction of custom prefabricated buildings, structures and custom components in a factory environment with attention to the shipment of Dogwood's product. The Shipping Supervisor is responsible for the oversight of the shipping team including production, crew direction, quality assurance, work planning and safety.

Duties & Responsibilities

Production Volume and Quality:
  • Completes projects on time and under budget
  • Incurs less than 2% NCRs to hours worked

Crew direction:
  • Directs self to complete goals daily
  • Mentors crew members to achieve personal and team improvement
  • Assigns the right worker to the right task

Quality Assurance:
  • Arranges work flow to meet all QC hold points
  • Takes responsibility for quality of work
  • Proactively catches and eliminate quality issues before they impact work

Work Planning:
  • Reviews drawings and breaks job into steps
  • Participates in development of work plan and executes work plan
  • Adjusts work plan as required when resources or schedule changes

Safety:
  • Takes responsibility for the safe execution of the work
  • Uses JSA's
  • Understands and participates in the Cardinal Rules of Safety

  • Ability to execute and train advanced shipping and loadout tasks including rigging, bolting, and verifying panels for shipment.
  • Ability to direct crew, following load plans and bolt-up requirements, making real-time decisions when needed to ensure safety and shipment integrity.
  • Ability to perform and train quality control checks, verifying foam installation, ridge plates, flashing, and bolting are correct.
  • Ability to direct the operation of all non-specialized metal working equipment
  • Understanding of how to implement visual inspection criteria in pre-QC work checks

Physical Requirements/Work Environment The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have full range of mobility in upper and lower body, able to reach overhead, able to work in various positions, including, but not limited to, stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, squatting; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance for extended periods of time. Be able to lift, pull and push material and equipment to complete assigned job tasks. Be able to lift 50 pounds of weight throughout assigned workday if required. The employee will be exposed to shop elements such as noise, dust, fumes and odors. This position requires physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities in a primarily production environment. The work environment characteristics here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

Compensation $39.00 to $45.00 hourly, depending on experience and qualifications.
