Overview

R&P is seeking an experienced Electrical Superintendent to fill a full-time position leading our Electrical Teams onboard US Navy ships in San Diego, CA. We support several different ship classes and types at various Navy installations around the United States coastal areas. The Electrical Superintendent is responsible for ensuring the Electrical production teams adhere to schedules, departmental efficiency, and enhancements to product quality. Provide training and guidance to all electrical Industrial Operations personnel. They will be responsible for ensuring all electrical production meets the expectations of the customer and that all work performed is in accordance with ship specification requirements. Due to the high amount of risk pertaining to this job, electricians must be first and foremost responsible individuals with great attention to safety precautions. Experience on US Navy ships is required.

Responsibilities
  • Work with Operations Managers to plan, estimate, schedule, staff, organize, direct, and control complex industrial operations jobs ensuring all customer and company requirements are fulfilled in an effective and timely manner with high quality.
  • Plan, manage, and report on day-to-day industrial operations.
  • Must have a working knowledge of Project Management Principles and how to apply those principles in industrial operations.
  • Manage, supervise, mentor, and train Electrical personnel on work being conducted on US Navy ships and in offices, shops, and warehouses.
  • Ensures electrical labor force is adequately trained, is using proper tools and equipment reflecting current technology that promote safety, efficiency, and quality.
  • Provides technical leadership to the electrical production team.
  • Collaborates closely with Project Management Team in coordinating and resourcing electrical work to coincide with integrated production schedules.
  • Ensures electrical production team adheres to production schedules and coordinates/tracks where personnel are and what job they92re assigned to.
  • Communicates obstacles to progress and resource challenges to Project Management Team.
  • Participates in planning activities including preplanning, kick off meetings, and scheduling.
  • Collaborates with Quality Assurance regarding concerns with product quality, inspections, and testing.
  • Provides product requirements and technical expertise to assist the Project Team as needed.
  • Collaborates with Estimating on the development of new project proposals and estimates during the initiating and planning phase as needed.
  • Collaborates with the Operations Manager and Lead Technicians regarding resource allocation.
  • Familiar with shipboard Test and Inspection Plans (TIPS), Plan of Action & Milestones (POA&M) and NAVSEA Standard Items and reviews them with lead electricians.
  • Ensures projects adhere to R&P92s QMS and Safety Policy.
  • Maintain employee records (i.e. training action plans, training records, charge code authorizations, employee advancement plans and job descriptions)
  • Responsible for biannual evaluations and the approval of timecards, PTO and expense reports for their assigned personnel.
  • Track, progress, and report on adherence to project plans and schedules identifying and resolving problems, issues, and roadblocks.
  • Manage, maintain, and control company resources, ensuring work teams have all the resources needed to perform their jobs.
  • Ensures all electrical calibrated equipment is tracked and calibrated on time.
  • Ensures all tools and equipment are properly labeled, maintained, inventoried, issued, and properly tracked for accountability.
  • Work closely with Purchasing Assistant for Purchase Request and Purchase Orders submittals.
  • Develop and implement work standards, processes, and procedures to effect continuous improvement, increase quality and efficiency, and control costs.
  • Assist with developing proposals and quotes for future and follow on work opportunities.
  • Review requests for quote and proposals identifying technical requirements, risks, opportunities, and issues prior to contract acceptance.
  • Promote R&P and ensure the company is well represented at every work site, in every yard, and on every ship. Work with existing and new customers to bring in new work and build customer relationships.
  • Communicate policies and organizational goals.
Qualifications
  • 10 Years experience in the Shipboard Electrical Industry
  • Must be proficient in paperwork and all Microsoft Office suite of applications., Microsoft Project, and Adobe Acrobat DC.
  • OSHA 10 Training
  • Deep understanding of NAVSEA Standard Items. 009-73, 009-123 and 009-25, MIL-STD and EPISM
  • Active Secret Security Clearance preferred
  • Must have the leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills necessary to create and maintain healthy, thriving, dependable, and compliant work environments.
  • Must be familiar with NAVSEA Standard Items and ABS standards.
  • Must have the ability to read, comprehend, and translate detailed and complicated customer work items, requirements, specifications, references, drawings, and wiring diagrams.
  • Knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures in U.S. Navy ship design, production, test, operations, maintenance, and modernization is highly preferred.
  • Experience in marine electrical systems installations, maintenance, and repair is preferred.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification is desirable.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
Salary

R&P offers a highly competitive compensation package that includes contributions towards health insurance, 401(k) matching, and other non-salary benefits. Exact salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

  • Offered rate of compensation (California locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $87,360.00-$93,600.00 annually.
