SHE Response and Technology Manager

Location: Gaithersburg, Maryland, United States

Work Arrangement: Onsite in Gaithersburg, MD to provide site-facing SHE technology, response, communications, and data support across Gaithersburg and COO sites.

Introduction to Role

Are you ready to strengthen safety performance through technology, data integrity, rapid response support, and practical digital solutions? As SHE Response and Technology Manager, you will oversee SHE platform administration, incident data quality, help desk response, communications, and technology-enabled improvement across COO sites, with a primary focus on Gaithersburg.

You will help elevate platform governance, user literacy, audit-ready documentation, service delivery, and safety culture by partnering with site leaders, enterprise SHE, IT, vendors, and subject matter experts to turn business needs into reliable tools, clear processes, and measurable improvements.

Typical Accountabilities

  • Define and execute the multi-site roadmap for SHE digital platforms, including SharePoint, Workvivo, Veeva Vault, AZ SHE systems, and related tools.
  • Establish governance, standards, and KPIs for content lifecycle management, metadata, searchability, archival, usability, and audit readiness.
  • Serve as a site-facing SHE systems administrator, supporting accurate incident, near-miss, action, and observation data and consistent reporting practices.
  • Lead or support SHE help desk and Training & Technology channels, including service expectations, escalation pathways, knowledge articles, and first-contact resolution improvements.
  • Partner with enterprise SHE, IT, vendors, site leaders, and SMEs to assess needs, support upgrades, resolve user issues, and manage change.
  • Use analytics, service trends, user feedback, and performance data to prioritize enhancements that improve adoption, efficiency, and decision-making.
  • Coordinate SHE communications across intranet, digital signage, presentations, town halls, and other channels for training, policy, system, and safety culture updates.
  • Support safety culture activities, including Safety Celebration events, quarterly site collaborations, routine town halls, wellbeing, and learning initiatives.
  • Coach SHE SMEs and contributors on documentation practices, digital proficiency, templates, and user-friendly content standards.
  • Maintain a transparent backlog, release plan, and project priorities; advise SHE leadership on risks, trade-offs, timelines, benefits, and implementation needs.

Required On-Call Coverage

Support a 24-7 operation. On-call coverage is required for this role. Employees may be scheduled to participate in an on-call rotation and must be available outside standard working hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed to support business-critical activities.

Essential Skills/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety, environmental science, business, communications, information management, technology, project management, or related discipline.
  • Experience supporting SHE, EHS, laboratory, manufacturing, operations, quality, compliance, technology, or another regulated corporate environment.
  • Project management experience managing priorities, timelines, stakeholders, risks, and deliverables across multiple workstreams.
  • Strong digital capability, including Microsoft 365 and experience using or administering platforms such as SharePoint, Workvivo, Veeva Vault, AZ SHE systems, Enablon, Adobe tools, or similar systems.
  • Ability to support data integrity, reporting, documentation standards, content governance, access management, issue resolution, and platform adoption.
  • Strong written communication, presentation, stakeholder engagement, and change management skills, including translating technical or compliance requirements into practical guidance.
  • Ability to analyze feedback, service trends, incident data, workflow pain points, and performance metrics to recommend fact-based improvements.
  • Sound judgment, attention to detail, customer-service orientation, and ability to operate onsite in a matrixed, multi-site SHE environment.

Desirable Skills/Experience

  • Experience in biopharmaceutical, research, laboratory, manufacturing, corporate SHE, or regulated site environments.
  • Familiarity with SHE incident management, near-miss reporting, observations, corrective actions, and safety management systems.
  • Certifications or training in OSHA, Six Sigma, Lean, project management, National Safety Council programs, change management, digital adoption, or related areas.
  • Experience developing communications calendars, training materials, knowledge articles, templates, dashboards, workflow guidance, or adoption resources.
  • Experience with AI-enabled tools, automation, analytics, information architecture, taxonomy, metadata, content lifecycle processes, or document control practices.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual base pay for this position ranges from $105,710- $125,000 USD Annual. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
