Full Job Description
Position Summary
Secures major gifts ($10K or more) from individuals, corporations, and foundations for the approved service lines and medical divisions within ECU Health. Responsible for identifying, soliciting, cultivating, and stewarding donors and prospective donors. Responsible for managing a prospect portfolio in order to raise money for the Foundation's priority programs. Has direct staffing responsibility and management responsibility with volunteers.
Responsibilities
Fundraising:
  • Manages a portfolio of 75-125 prospects in order to raise $1M to $2M annually. Spends approximately 80% of time interaction with donors, either developing strategies for cultivation or calling on donors with face-to-face visits.
  • Develops and implements fundraising plans for selected service lines and medical divisions within ECU Health. Fundraising plans include direct prospect research, proposal writing-all aimed at addressing various needs of the departments.
  • Creates strategies and manages relationships with current and prospective major gift donors; facilitates meetings between current and prospective donors and ECU Health physicians and leadership; plans and implements prospect cultivation and donor recognition events. Identifies key board members and system leadership to act as natural partners in cultivation process.
  • Engages appropriate major gift donors and prospects in the programs at ECU Health: Provides on-going information on relevant programs and overall strategies that may be a funding fit; provide on-going information on use and impact of gifts; engages donor and prospects in system activities and ensures proper recognition of all major gifts; plans targeted outreach activities aimed at increasing the donor pool and cultivation/stewarding existing prospects; creates programs to educate donors on giving to health care and how philanthropy helps the system achieve its goals; cultivates and educates prospects and donors through personal visits and written and oral communications.

Administrative:
  • Understand and utilize database.
  • Supervise select development staff by setting performance expectations, mentoring, providing feedback, and overseeing their respective portfolios.
  • Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and professional affiliations.
  • Develop and recommend fundraising budgets and investments to support strategies.
  • Performs other responsibilities or assignments as required.

Product/Case Development:
  • Working closely with system and medical leadership, identifies and develops case statements representing product lines that match VH priorities; works with appropriate internal and external staff to develop written case statements that match system priorities with donor interests.

Proposal Writing:
  • Develops a proposal strategy for major gift solicitations from individuals, corporations and foundations which clearly articulate the need for a contribution and links this need to the prospective donors' giving interests. Proposals will include a detailed financial budget for the program or project. Accurate descriptions, in layman's terms, of medical conditions and procedures must also be included in most proposals.
  • Assists in prioritizing proposals and may research, write and edit correspondence to current and prospective donors including introduction letters, gift acknowledgments and reports on the use of grant funds.
Minimum Requirements
  • Minimum of Bachelor's degree from four-year college in related field is required. Master's and/or CFRE preferred.
  • Five or more years of experience in fundraising with responsibility for major and planned gifts.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills and communication skills and be guided by a compelling "client/customer" orientation.

Pay Range
$83,636.80 - $121,904.64
Other Information
  • Hybrid role (based out of Greenville, NC)
  • Monday - Friday day shift:
    • 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
    • Evenings, nights, & weekends, as needed, for special events and donor meetings.
