Job Requirements
Provides advanced operational leadership and supports the oversight of security operations at the organization. Assists the Director in directing and coordinating security resources, managing major incidents, and ensuring effective execution of security programs and initiatives. Leads specialized functions including complex investigations, visitor management operations, security system optimization, workplace violence prevention initiatives, and modernization efforts that improve operational efficiency and system integration. Ensures adherence to regulatory requirements and contributes to riskmitigation planning to protect patients, visitors, staff, and assets. Serves as the Director's designee in their absence, providing continuity of leadership and operational decisionmaking.
Primary Responsibilities

• Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of the comprehensive strategic security management plan, ensuring departmental goals and objectives align with the mission, vision, and values.
• Partner with the Director to serve as an operational liaison with internal and external healthcare security leaders and act as the primary operational point of contact for local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies to ensure coordinated security and emergency preparedness efforts.
• Provide advanced oversight of daily security operations to ensure effective delivery of service across assigned facilities. Offer subjectmatter expertise in visitor control, access management, screening processes, and the use of stateoftheart security technologies and systems.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements, including CMS, Joint Commission, OSHA, MHA, IAHSS, and ASIS standards, while implementing appropriate riskmanagement and mitigation protocols.
• Provide executive protection support to senior executive leadership, as assigned, in accordance with policies and established risk thresholds.
• Conduct environmental and security risk assessments, identifying vulnerabilities and recommending strategies to enhance the protection of patients, staff, visitors, assets, and property. Develop or support the development of mitigation and response plans.
• Assist the Director in budget planning and resource management, monitor departmental expenditures to ensure fiscal responsibility, and participate in contract development, execution, and oversight.
• Lead the design, coordination, and implementation of training programs for security personnel and staff, including orientation, compliancedriven training, and missioncritical programs mandated by Maryland State legislation and Joint Commission requirements.
• Assist with investigations and conduct or support investigations involving criminal activity, workplace violence, fraud, waste, abuse, and other significant risk events, in partnership with Human Resources, Legal, Risk Management, Compliance, and law enforcement agencies.
• Supervise the performance of Security personnel under the Director's direction, including hiring, coaching, discipline, training, development, and performance review. Establish expectations for performance, productivity, and staffing levels in alignment with departmental needs.
• May manage the Security, Parking, Building Operations Center and Grounds departments day-to-day operations to include managing daily schedules and assignments, resolving stakeholder issues, oversight and over employee parking assignments.
• May oversee the Parking and Grounds operations to include but not limited to oversight of snow removal, landscaping and facilitating necessary improvements.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
Work Experience
Education & Experience - Required
• Bachelor's degree in related field. Four (4) years of related work experience can be substituted in lieu of a degree.
• Five (5) years security experience.
• Four (4) years lead or supervisor experience
• Completion of an approved de-escalation course on crisis intervention required within 90 days from starting in position.
• Valid driver's license is required for all individuals hired into this role on or after April 1, 2026.
Education & Experience - Preferred
• Associate's or bachelor's degree in related field
• Heart Saver, CPR, Stop the Bleed and/or Narcan training
• Hospital or healthcare security experience.
• Certification in healthcare security (i.e., Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (CHPA), Certified Healthcare Security Officer (CHSO)) or other related security certifications.
