Senior Accountant

Manufacturing & Government Contracting | High Visibility Role | 9/80 Schedule

We're seeking a Senior Accountant to join a collaborative accounting team supporting a manufacturing organization with government contracting operations. This is a highly visible role that offers broad exposure across general ledger accounting, inventory, fixed assets, cost accounting, financial reporting, compliance, and operational finance.

What You'll Do

• Take ownership of key components of the month-end close process within a fast-paced four-day close environment
• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, reclasses, and other month-end accounting transactions
• Perform account and balance sheet reconciliations while researching and resolving discrepancies
• Support inventory accounting activities, inventory reconciliations, and month-end inventory reporting
• Manage fixed asset accounting, including additions, disposals, transfers, depreciation, and reporting
• Perform financial analysis and variance analysis to explain business results and trends
• Assist with financial statement preparation, management reporting, and account analysis
• Support internal and external audit requests and maintain organized supporting documentation
• Assist with sales and use tax reporting and compliance activities
• Partner with Operations, Purchasing, Supply Chain, and Finance teams to support business initiatives
• Utilize ERP systems and advanced Excel tools to improve reporting efficiency and accounting accuracy
• Participate in process improvement initiatives and special projects

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
• 5-7+ years of accounting experience within a manufacturing environment
• Strong ownership of month-end close responsibilities
• Experience preparing journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and maintaining the general ledger
• Financial reporting and variance analysis experience
• Fixed asset accounting experience
• Strong Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, LOOKUP functions, and data analysis
• ERP system experience
• Ability to work independently in a deadline-driven environment
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail

• Government contracting accounting experience
• Inventory accounting experience
• Cost accounting experience
• Manufacturing accounting experience
• Audit support experience
• Sales and use tax experience
• FAR and DFARS exposure
• Experience supporting incurred cost submissions
• Deltek Costpoint or similar ERP experience
• CPA or CPA-track preferred

This is a Permanent position based out of San Diego, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $119480.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
