- Plan, develop and implement software-engineering solutions to complex problems and major projects.
- Work to support project plans and requirements, establish scope, cost and schedule estimates for design and development activities.
- Participate in technical reviews for projects at various phases of development and provide recommendations for computer technology solutions to customers and management's needs.
- Maintain and upgrade a variety of systems, as well as develop new software capabilities.
- Create and review new methodologies and architectures that advance the organizations' mission.
- Ensure Compliance with INL's safety, security, environmental, health and quality assurance requirements.
- Document activities, reports, existing technologies.
- Review and analyze source code and system design documentation, reports from users, and other technical artifacts to create reports and present to other staff and management assessments of code quality, the probable origin and implications of defects and anomalies, and recommendations for improvements and enhancements.
- Engage in professional development to maintain technical proficiency in current and emerging technologies.
- Utilize expertise to define strategic direction in assigned areas.
- Review training plans and help lead the organization forward.
- Mentor junior engineers.
- May write and present technical papers representing INL.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education, Credentials, and Work Experience: Required- Level 3: Bachelor of Science degree in technical field including Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity or related field and 5 years of relevant experience; or a Master's in a technical field and 2 years of relevant experience; or in lieu of a degree High School diploma or equivalent and at least 11 years of direct/professional experience.
- Level 4: Bachelor's Degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology or related field and at least 9 years of direct professional experience; or in lieu of a degree High School diploma or equivalent and at least 15 years of direct/professional experience.
- 5 years of direct/professional experience with ServiceNow-specific certifications such as Certified System Administrator (CSA), Certified Application Developer (CAD), and/or Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS).
- Experience acting as a ServiceNow Platform Owner, Tech Lead, Platform System Admin or equivalent, including governance, roadmap development, release strategy, environment management (clones, upgrades), and alignment with enterprise architecture.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor developers, guide architects, and lead cross-functional teams on platform-wide best practices.
- Proven ability to translate complex, multi-module business strategy into platform strategy - ensuring maintainability, scalability, and compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to do resource planning and allocation aligned to yearly budget cycles, including timesheet compliance to meet capital budget requirements.
- Demonstrated experience influencing the overall IT roadmap with stakeholders to address process gaps and manage escalations.
- Certified System Administrator (CSA) or Certified Application Developer (CAD)
Preferred: - CIS - IT Service Management (ITSM)
- CIS - Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM)
- One of: CIS - Discovery / CMDB or Enterprise Architecture (EA) certification (formerly the APM path)
- CIS - Security Incident Response (SIR) or Vulnerability Response (VR)

Onsite is preferred and Remote / Hybrid work opportunities may be available for this position.- The pay range for this position is: Level 3 ($95,256 - $195,288) / Level 4 ($114,360 - $234,336). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
- Multi-Level: These are multi-level positions and you will be placed at the appropriate level dependent on depth and breadth of proven experience and skills.
Working Conditions:The work environment is an office environment. The noise level is generally low; however, may be exposed to loud noises on occasion. Position requires working more than 8 hours/day and working alone.
