About This Role:
WEG Electric Corp. has an exciting opportunity for a Service Engineering Specialist II to join our Low Voltage Motors team in Duluth, GA.
The Service Engineering Specialist II provides intermediate-level technical support for WEG products, including LV Drives, Soft Starters, PLCs, HMIs, and basic MV, DC, and System Drive applications. This role supports customers, distributors, and field service personnel through troubleshooting, diagnostics, programming support, and technical problem resolution. Support is provided primarily through phone, email, and remote connection, with occasional limited field support when required.
The ideal candidate has experience working with industrial automation, motor control systems, variable frequency drives, and electrical troubleshooting. This position serves as a key technical resource while partnering with customers, field service engineers, engineering, quality, and product management teams to deliver effective solutions and ensure customer satisfaction.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support via phone, email, and remote connection for WEG LV Drives, Soft Starters, PLCs, HMIs, and basic MV/DC/System Drive applications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve moderately complex electrical, control, programming, and communication issues.
- Perform structured remote diagnostics to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Evaluate support cases to determine when on-site intervention is required and coordinate escalation to Field Service or Senior Support Engineers.
- Support Field Service Engineers by providing technical guidance, wiring diagrams, parameter recommendations, and troubleshooting assistance before and during site visits.
- Document customer interactions, troubleshooting activities, and resolutions within technical support systems.
- Assist with product evaluations, testing activities, warranty validation, and technical issue investigations.
- Identify product non-conformities and collaborate with Engineering and Quality teams to support corrective actions.
- Provide field feedback to Product Management and Engineering teams to support continuous product improvement.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, troubleshooting guides, and knowledge-base resources.
- Assist with customer training activities and support onboarding of new technical support team members.
- Participate in after-hours support rotation as required.
- Support customers with repair recommendations, return authorizations, and parts identification.
- Maintain current knowledge of WEG products, applications, and emerging technologies.
- Deliver a high level of customer service while managing escalated customer situations professionally.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Experience & Knowledge:
- 3 to 7 years of experience supporting industrial automation, motor control systems, drives, controls, electrical systems, or related technologies.
- Solid understanding of LV Drives, Soft Starters, motors, and industrial electrical systems.
- Familiarity with MV Drives, DC Drives, and System Drive applications.
- Working knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, and industrial communication networks such as Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, DeviceNet, and BACnet.
- Understanding of AC/DC motor control, power electronics, and control logic.
- Experience utilizing diagnostic software, test equipment, and remote support platforms.
- Knowledge of applicable safety standards including NFPA 70E, NEC, and OSHA requirements.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work independently with moderate supervision and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Professional customer service skills, including the ability to support escalated customer situations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
