The Work

The Operations Analysis Awareness Specialist requires a highly analytical professional with advanced technical capabilities to maintain real-time Situational Awareness (SA) and Situational Understanding (SU) while conducting in-depth operational analyses. The selected candidate will provide strategic recommendations and deliver high-impact reports to support critical decision-making for senior leadership.

 

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain continuous Situational Awareness (SA) and Situational Understanding (SU) across operational contexts.
• Analyze operational reporting, including SITREPs, spot reports, Commanders’ Critical Information Requirements (CCIRs), and incoming message traffic, to identify key trends, patterns, and anomalies.
• Conduct advanced analyses such as root-cause analysis, gap analysis, and develop data-driven Courses of Action (COAs) to address operational issues or risks.
• Assess enterprise vulnerabilities and support timely and informed decision-making for commanders and senior leaders.
• Perform cross-domain operational analyses to identify broader impacts, including connections to Navy readiness and overall mission success.
• Integrate Navy Command Centers (NCC) and Type Command (TYCOM) operational data into predictive trend models to enhance operational planning and readiness.
• Serve as an integral member of the Security Operations Center (SEOC) to provide continuous 24/7 situational awareness and watch coverage.
• Monitor classified and unclassified C2/C4I systems for alerts, updates, and emergency communications.
• Screen and manage large volumes of message traffic, including categorizing, formatting, and disseminating actionable intelligence in high-tempo environments.
• Push critical intelligence updates and situational assessments in real time to enhance strategic situational awareness.
• Facilitate and support Crisis Action Team (CAT) operations using advanced C4I suite tools, including message handling, situational updates, and operational tasking.
• Execute COOP (Continuity of Operations) procedures as directed by leadership to ensure uninterrupted operations in crisis scenarios.
• Monitor, track, and report SEOC equipment status, ensuring operational readiness.
• Create, maintain, and distribute daily, monthly, and quarterly trend analysis products to identify and communicate performance and risk indicators.
• Develop professional-quality Microsoft Office deliverables such as PowerPoint briefings, Excel spreadsheets (including data modeling and pivot tables), Word documents, and content within SharePoint.
• Deliver approved written/oral reports and high-level briefings, including presentations tailored for Flag Officers and senior leadership.
• Develop and share critical data visualizations using tools such as Power BI to highlight operational insights and present findings in an accessible way.

Qualifications

Qualifications – Here’s What You Need

• A minimum of five (5) years’ combined experience in:
  • Continuous operations center watch-standing in support of mission-critical functions.
  • Evaluating operational intelligence and reporting to identify trends in performance, activity, or vulnerabilities.
  • Monitoring and managing classified/unclassified C2/C4I systems.
  • Synthesizing multi-source operational reporting (e.g., SITREPs, Spot Reports).
  • Conducting advanced root cause and gap analysis, trend analysis, and developing actionable Courses of Action (COAs).

• Demonstrated expertise with National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Incident Command System (ICS).
• Advanced understanding of Navy reporting processes, including OPREP-3 and crisis action planning protocols.
• Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, to include:
  • Excel proficiency (e.g., pivot tables, data modeling)
  • SharePoint List Management
  • Power BI or other data visualization tools.
• In-depth knowledge of Emergency Management Program Assessment and its application in Navy or DoD contexts.
• Active Secret Security Clearance is required.
• Must be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in Navy, DoD, or related field with exposure to fleet operations, logistics command, or crisis management.
• Certification or formal training in crisis communication systems and operational systems such as C4I platforms.

Reports to: Program Manager and SEOC Operations Analysis Awareness Specialist, Team-Lead

 

Working Conditions

• Rotational 24/7 shift schedule to ensure continuous operations.
• Operates in a high-tempo environment; flexibility and dependability are critical.
• May involve extended shift hours and crisis-responses during contingency operations.
• Must be physically and mentally able to perform duties extended periods of time.
• Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed to meet the demands of this position.
• Must be able to establish a productive and professional workspace.
• Must be able to sit for long periods of time looking at computer screen.
• May be asked to work a flexible schedule which may include holidays.
