Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a experienced Project Manager/Principal Project Manager. This position is located in Vandenberg Space Force Base, CA. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

What You'll Get To Do:

Oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management. Control Account management responsibilities, inclusive of: Top level IMS and task management, Cost accounting and control, EAC management, Jira stories management, QBDs, internal tools, BOEs, Risk Management, and Variance Analysis Reporting. Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives. Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients.

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Project Manager: Bachelor's degree with 2 years' experience in project management or Master's degree. 4 additional years may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Principal Project Manager: Bachelor's degree with 5 years' experience in project management; Master's degree with 3 years' experience; 1 Year with PhD. 4 additional years may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Must be a U.S citizen and have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet its business need.
  • At least 1 years of experience leading a project and/or driving performance against schedule.
  • Experience in project management/ execution and closeout.
  • Skilled use of Microsoft Office Products (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Project).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Project Management principles.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to establish a solid working relationship with technical staff, peers, and customers.
  • Experience planning, scheduling, and managing projects with many different stakeholders.
  • Experience developing content, packaging, and briefing communication to small groups.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Current CAM certification.
  • Experience with MS Project.
  • Experience with Jira and Confluence; SCRUM master experience is also a plus.
  • Experience on a DOD contract Business Management team.
  • Experience leading other Project Managers.
  • 2 years experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EPQs:
  • VMS) as a Control Account Manager (CAM) or assisting a CAM in their duties.
  • Master's degree in STEM, business, or accounting and 5 years experience.
  • Trained and familiar with PMP.
  • DoD Top Secret Security Clearance.
  • Experience with Project & Collaboration Tools: Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Project.
  • Experience with Data & Analytics: Tableau, Excel (Pivot Tables), MAXQDA.


Primary Level Salary Range: $75,800.00 - $113,800.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $94,200.00 - $141,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
