DescriptionNorthrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a
Principal Systems Engineer/Sr. Principal Systems Engineer. This opening is in
Roy, UT and will support the Sentinel Program Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force's sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities, and associated infrastructure.
What you will get to do: The selected engineer will be responsible for the following:
- Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for Support Equipment
- Work with Design, Integrated Logistics Support, Specialty Engineering, and project management in development of Support Equipment for mission operational system on the Sentinel program to apply concepts and practices to Support Equipment.
- Analysis and perform Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) for Support Equipment Architecture development.
- Perform analyses at all levels of product lifecycle to include concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.
- Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements as applicable to support equipment and total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
- Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into support equipment specifications using DOORS.
- Develops Architectural framework products using CAMEO MBSE product toolsets.
- Ensure support equipment requirements, architecture, and designs integrate with technical needs of the Sentinel program.
This requisition may be filled at either the Principal Systems Engineer level (level 3) or Sr. Principal Systems Engineer level (level 4).
Basic Qualifications:Principal Systems Engineer: - Bachelor's degree in STEM and 5 years of experience, 3 years of experience with master's degree, 0 years of experience with PhD.
- Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years
- Ability to obtain TOP SECRET clearance and Special Access within a reasonable period as determined by the business needs of the company.
- 1-2 years of experience in Systems architecture development
- 1-2 years of experience in Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) Tools (Cameo, Magic Draw, Rhapsody or similar)
- 1-2 years of experience with Requirements management tools (DOORS, for example)
Sr. Principal Systems Engineer: - Bachelor's degree in STEM and 8 years of experience, 6 years of experience with master's degree, 4 years of experience with PhD.
- Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years
- Ability to obtain TOP SECRET clearance and Special Access within a reasonable period as determined by the business needs of the company.
- 2-4 years of experience in Systems architecture development
- 2-4 years of experience in Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) Tools (Cameo, Magic Draw, Rhapsody or similar)
- 2-4 years of experience with Requirements management tools (DOORS, for example)
Preferred Qualifications: - Solid understanding/Experience in System Engineering (SE) process, including SE experience across multiple levels of integration
- Experience with the following tools: CAMEO, DOORS, Confluence, and JIRA
- Experience developing/maintaining Peculiar (PSE) and Common (CSE) Support Equipment
- Experience leading technical teams in large scale aerospace/defense projects
- 3 year experience in Systems architecture development

This position's standard work schedule is 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
#SentinelSystems Primary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
